A proposal

Sometimes, in fandom, we just want to write id-tastic fic that rolls around in tropes that might be viewed as problematic. But we don’t want to address the problematic side of things in this particular fanwork; we just want to roll around and wallow.

It is considered courteous to give readers a heads-up via use of AO3 tags. I propose a tag that signals that a given fanwork is for rolling around, not giving a measured evaluation of anything. The MCU has carved out a space for this sort of fic with the “HYDRA Trash Party” tag, for which I commend them. Trash Party is a bit too specific to cover all of the ground I’m thinking of here, though; I propose “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat.”

For those of you not familiar with Arrested Development, Michael Bluth finds a paper bag in the freezer labeled “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat.” He opens the bag, finds a dead dove, and reacts as follows:

I don’t have a design for her yet but I got a picrew and a collage. The great thing is that she’s Anne’s half sister (Eva and Avalon’s teenage mistake)

She regularly fries her hair from bleach and dye but she’s a natural blonde (Avalon’s genes did not put up a fight at all) but after Some Shit, aka her death and resurrection, she’s a bit more white/silvery. Like her hair has whitened out from stress (which does follow Avalon’s hair greying pattern)

Oh boy does she fucking hate ‘em. There are some good eggs but she doesn’t like the institute that it is. In her opinion, the keeper’s are far too connected and she knows they spy on people.

Before W&D, she was just constantly displeased. They knew so much and purposefully held back on information.

She never liked Rhiannon who loved to lord the fact she’s a wild whisperer to Nicki, the literal reincarnation of Aideen.

She loved Elizabeth. Elizabeth was the mother Nicki never had the opportunity to have growing up. After W&D, well…she can’t but hate Elizabeth just a little bit.

Her sisters are her sisters, regardless of the Keepers meddling. She’d do anything for them

Aideen…it’s complicated. She finds that she loses herself with the goddess too much and has to rely upon her friends to find herself.

📚 [BOOK STACK] -> What is your Original Character's story? Not just in SSO's canon main story - what is your Character's deal in general?

Nicki is an adopted child. Her adoptive parents are the Castlebergs, part of the British Elite. Things were okay up until they had their own child, a son, and suddenly she just…wasn’t good enough.

She went to a posh international private school where she probably did some Highly Illegal shit because what is an upper class girl meant to do when she’s acting out? The answer is drugs, alcohol and sex (all underage. Don’t do this).

After she somehow survived and passed her school, and her boyfriend broke up with her, she just…upped and left. Spent some time in Europe, before eventually catching a ferry to Jorvik. (The whole time her family have been trying to find her and maybe using the family credit card was stupid. She maxed out the cash withdrawal a year into her runaway)

And then…that’s it! She found her place and then…then it all fell apart. which you can read on Wicked & Divine on Ao3

🌪 [TORNADO] -> Does your Original Character have any traumas or fears that stem from something that happened to them on Jorvik? Have they been confronted with something that left them scarred (mentally or physically)?

Nicki is pretty fearless because she has to be. She has to make sure her sisters and those she love are safe.

She does however have a thing against heights after venturing to the oil rig. The claustrophobia can get to her too as well. Going into those old Keeper ruins and the basement where they held Justin? She still wonders what could have happened if they didn’t break him out…
