over the previous few months there has been a lot of toxicity and negativity surrounding the angels blog due to that of both the spam reblogging to the hateful discriminative views of certain individuals. the incidents that were spoken about on tumblr a few nights ago have left many of the members of the angels both mortified and disgusted. many of those within the blog are international fans who due to the time zones are often asleep when many of these issues take place so do not always see what has happened and due to this are unable to express their distaste and disgust at the time and many were unaware of any such incidents. however, that does not take away from the lack of response or addressing to these appalling acts of bigotry from certain individuals who were members of the blog. the point of this post is to address a much larger issue and seeing that certain members of the blog which was initially created out of a fan project with such a positive message to be so hateful and discriminative is mortifying. the racism, islamophobia, homophobia and transphobia in this fandom is horrifying and to see members who many of us saw as close friends to act in this way and hold these despicable views is disgusting.
as it stands at the moment the blog is still up, the members who remain are embarrassed and horrified at the actions of one individual a few months ago. those remaining in the blog do not and will never support racism and bigotry. we have taken into consideration all of the suggestions surrounding the future of the blog. One particular type of post that stuck out to us was along the lines of “keep the blog but have the members be those who are in it for the right reasons and are not considered the ‘bad apples’ of the group” although we are sure some of you rather us delete the blog altogether, we feel that isn’t going to solve anything, deleting the blog can’t resolve what was done and in a sense disregards an issue which is too important to be brushed over. However, from now some changes will be made to the way in which the blog is run with a focus to that of those who have not yet been noticed!! We will continue to reblog posts sent to us and try to help give more people their first notices. In addition, we will be going back to our original blog name. Someone decided to change it to “positivitays” without consent from everyone. We feel there is no need to change the name, we should not hide behind a new name. We fully take responsibility for those in the group who have offended and upset people. In no way are we trying to dismiss what has happened, but we are trying to take ownership for what did happen, and we are trying to explain and apologize for it.
lastly, this fandom should be a place of love and appreciation and we would like to make it very clear that the ones left in the blog are loving and accepting of those of all races, genders, sexualities, and religions. again we are disgusted by what has been said and we can’t express enough how upset this has made us to see some people who we initially thought of as close friends to spread hate like this.
