If you’re like me, a dog owner, and a town-home owner, we have a unique problem. Disposing our dog’s poo. Single family home owners have a yard where Fido does his business. Then, periodically, poo is scooped and disposed of. Apartment dwellers no doubt ditch the smelly waste somewhere between outside and a communal garbage can. Us, town-homers bring a waste bag home pretty much each time we take the dog out.
I have strict rules when it comes to garbage.

If it is recyclable, it should be recycled.
Rinse cans before recycling as not to get the recycle bin sticky/smelly, or attract flies and/or bees!.
If it’s food, it should go down the garbage disposal, not in the garbage.
All garbage in the receptacle should be in a garbage bag, no transient food wrappers, food, or (God forbid) doggy waste bags.

My 1st odor-less dog waste bin “prototype” was simply a small garbage bag, in a waste basket with a foot operated lid, kept in the garage. Unfortunately, it was not smell-proof. Each time I pulled my car into the garage, the small, odoriferous waste basket was overwhelming (especially in the summer). In addition, my daughter would often, “forget” to tie up the poo and put it in the can for garbage pick-up. Translation? This toxic waste would spend another week fermenting in my garage. I considered finding an old diaper genie, but decided I didn’t want to spend more money on the special bags, etc. I knew there had to be a better way.
My solution is quick, simple, cheap, and most importantly, it works! All you need is a command hook, small bags, and your existing trash receptacle.
Medium or Large Command Utility Hook
Small, scented garbage bags.
I attached a command hook upside down, on the side of my trash receptacle, near the lid. Then I tied a small garbage bag and hooked the loop on the command hook. Lastly, drop the bag into the trash receptacle and close the lid. It is like a mini garbage inside of your trash can. Very simple, and when it is trash day, I remove the bag, tie it, and drop into the receptacle with the rest of the trash.
