so in Ode To Sleep (one of their best songs, FIGHT ME) when he sings
“I’ll stay awake, ‘cause the dark’s not taking prisoners tonight”
do you, reader, interpret that line as
1. “I’m not giving the dark even the *chance* to take me prisoner”
or
2. “The dark is going to *kill* me rather than take me prisoner”
Which do you interpret it as?
I interpret it as 1!
I interpret it as 2!
Tyler Joseph sings about hearts in jars a total of two times, which isn't a lot, but it's more than most people sing about hearts in jars (which most people don't sing about). But whenever I hear him singing about his jars of hearts, I think of that one TMA (The Magnus Archives) episode (specifically MAG 9, A Father's Love), where Robert Montauk has forty (40) jars with a heart in them, then I think maybe Tyler Joseph isn't all that weird for singing about jars of hearts (even if he did do that on two separate occasions).
