There was no word in the English language, to his knowledge, that could aptly describe how it felt to wake up in a hospital bed in a strange city surrounded by futuristic technology. Surreal, confounding, awe-inspiring, disorienting – these were good starts. Perhaps if they converged to describe one emotion, he would be covered. Once he was discharged from the hospital, he found that his wallet was still preserved in his pants pocket. He also immediately felt out of place as people swarmed around him, all of them wearing clothing unlike any he had seen before. Even their pants were different, and women were wearing them, too.
He looked around himself, trying to avoid being trampled by the impatient crowd. After a few tries, he finally got an answer as to what year it was. 2018. That couldn’t be right, could it? Last he remembered, it was 1918. The 100 year leap would explain the changes he saw, a different one each second, but he had no idea how self-sacrifice had brought him to the future.
Taking out his wallet, he saw that his money was all there. Hopefully paper currency was still in circulation. Steve stumbled away from the busy street and looked up at a sign above what appeared to be a clothing store. “O.N.S Clothing…” He mouthed to himself. Looking again at the rushing street of people, he cleared his throat before reaching out to tap the nearest passer-by on the shoulder. “Pardon me, sorry, I’m…” He cleared his throat again, tugging at his collar. “Is this a good clothing store? And…what sort of everyday outfits do people wear?”

cassie blinks, once, twice - brown eyes taking in his appearance. handsome - but way too old. it’s too bad. still ! cassie perks up, hands clasping together. it’s nice to make distractions for herself. “ it’s no problem. ” and a giggle escapes her lips. he’s as clueless as her dad ! maybe even worse off. she didn’t think that was too possible, but it’s a new year, she supposes.
the blonde turns to look at the storefront, face scrunching up as she shakes her head. “ i mean, don’t get me wrong. they have really nice shirts and stuff. but it’s WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for everyday wear. my dad and i went in there to look for interview clothes - $80 was way too much for a shirt. you’re just looking for everyday stuff ? ” she asks. who’d think that kinda clothing was every day ? unless you were like tony stark - but cassie has a feeling he’s anything but. “ i’d try H&M. decent prices, quality, and . . . it’s more diverse in style. ”
