MERCY OVALLES, TWENTY-FIVE, WAITRESS โ read about her here .
WINTER BALDWIN, TWENTY-SIX, BARTENDER โ read about her here .
If there was one thing that Sarah detested most, it was writing in her home. She felt like the walls were closing in on her and she became claustrophobic. Instead, she preferred the open air, which was why she was situated on a patch of grass, surrounded by battered notebooks and her guitar resting in her lap. She was aware that she looked like a hippy that had transported from the early 60s, but she forced herself not to care. She had her headphones on, listening to the lyrics she had written as she tried to figure out chord progressions.ย
Almost as if she had a sixth sense, Sarah felt someone looking at her and her eyes flickered open, sharp blue orbs meeting the other personโs. She let go of the neck of her guitar, letting it drop slightly as she reached to slide her headphones off, resting on her neck.ย โCan I help you?โ she asked, casually reaching to close over her notebooks.ย โYou realise you look like a weirdo, right?โ She was one to talk.
ย ย ย ย ย ย It had never been her intention to stareโ not even the slightestโ but as she slowly seemed to walk by the woman, the more sheโd felt like sheโd seen her somewhere. Green hues remained glued to the back of her head, eyes squinting as Mercy tried her hardest to see if she could figure out from where. It was only when those blues eyes met with her own did the recognition dawn on her. Skylar, their night in bed, the woman who came banging through those doors. This woman. Did she remember her? That was immediately first question that dawned upon Mercy as she forced the surprise off her face.
โโM sorry, didnโt mean to stare,โ she apologized, a small but friendly smile gracing her features.ย โCuriosity just got the best of me is all.โ One way of putting it.
With Thanksgiving coming up, Pax had been working extra shifts at the grocery store, which meant they hadnโt been doing much socializing lately. They had agreed to meet Mercy for coffee once they had gotten off of work. Latte in hand, they take a seat an empty table, waving their friend over once sheโs gotten her own drink.ย โHey! Iโm sorry itโs been a minute, workโs been crazy. Howโve you been?โ
@staytvnightโ
ย ย ย ย โNo worries, handsome, I understand.โ And Mercy truly did. It was hard to expect anyone to make time for her when she suddenly reappeared out of the blue. Four years had gone by and the brunette was just grateful they werenโt ripping her a new ass.ย โHeard you got yourself a spot in the mini mart. They really kickinโ your ass that bad?โ
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย with an index finger tapping against her chin as she tries to make up her mind over what alcoholicย ย beverageย she should have next, alana takes herย ย sweetย time as if she has no care in the worldย โ which in retrospect, sheย ย trulyย doesnโt.ย sheโs not paying attention to the line of people beside her that are all waiting to order when she cut it in the first placeย (ย albeit, it only took a smile at the men to give her a pass ) , tooย ย busyย deciding whenever she should go simple or go new until the bartenderโs words catch her attention.ย
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย โย ย whatโs the rush ?ย am i too slow ?ย ย โย alanaโs tone is dripping withย ย innocenceย (ย one she doesย notย truly possess ) , eyes wandering over to the line of men with a raised brow only to replied with a lot of shaking heads.ย ย โย see ?ย they donโt think so,ย โย the blonde smiles, returning her focus on the woman across the counter.ย ย โย do you have any suggestions ?ย whatโs something thatโs your special talent to make ?ย ย โย ย
ย ย ย ย ย ย Winter Baldwin had half a mind to take whatever she had ready by the bar and dump it above the pretty blondeโs headโ the feigned innocence being enough to have her skin crawl. She didnโt know what it was about people with an overbearing sense of confidence that felt as though they could do whatever they please. Not only to skip ahead of a crowd full of patrons whoโd been waiting for Winter to attend to them, but to also not even show the smallest bit of remorse for taking her sweet ass time? It bothered Winter. Truly.ย But, of course, she didnโt act upon it. Her lack of patience today didnโt seem like a good enough excuse to get herself into any sort of trouble.ย ย
โThey donโt think so, but I do. Baby, youโre runninโ on my time and if you ainโt got an order ready then donโt call me. Iโm actually interested in makinโ money tonight.โ Thereโs a sarcastic smirk that makes itโs presence known upon her features, but it was a flash. Her expression immediately jumping back to reflect the annoyance she felt.ย โYou got about two seconds to make up your mind before I move on to someone else and the next time you call me over, be sure youโre ready.โย

ย ย ย ย ย โMhm,โ was the only audible sound that slipped past her lips, annoyance visibly present at the same time before stepping off to the side and getting his drink together. Her brown hues hadnโt even fully noticed the dollar amount sliding in her direction.ย โSorry, darlinโ, but a money isnโt gonna get my time back,โ she said with an eye roll, the glass in her grasp being exchanged with the bill.ย โThanks for it, though. Only next time, I hope you have the right mind to have an order ready before askinโ for anyoneโs attention.โ

ย ย ย ย ย If there was one thing Winter never seemed to fully grasp, it was the concept of patience. Even if the line of patrons waiting to order hadnโt been long, she still wouldโve responded in the same way. With a exaggerated sigh, the brunette merely muttered the word,ย โFinallyโ before heading off to put together the blondeโs drink.ย โTook you that long just to come up with tequila? And the worst one of it all?โ She questioned, but managed to put on her best smile; pretending as though she hadnโt been annoyed to begin with.ย โNext time, go with Patron. Itโll be worth it.โ

ย ย ย ย ย Being understaffed during a weekend shift was a recipe for disaster and this weekend? Seemed as though the entire town was caged within the barโs four walls, never giving the brunette a chance to really stop and take a breater. And what also didnโt seem to help the chaos? Being forced to stand in front of someone that still hadnโt made up their mind, but felt the need to call her attention.ย โNot trynna be a bitch or anythinโโโ Not that she truly cared if she wasโย โBut do you plan on pickinโ somethinโ anytime soon? I got a bar full of people waitinโ to order and unless entertaininโ your indecisiveness is a payinโ gig, Iโm gonna need you to decide quickly.โ
One of Maeve Darlingโs hands was flipping through the journal she kept all her notes for the tech crew in - if only she could read her own handwriting โฆ - and the other was lifting a raspberry cream pastry into her mouth. Despite the fact that she was already eating one, she had another on a plate in front of her, ready for when she was finished with the first. One of the few upsides of having cystic fibrosis was having a super fast metabolism, which explained why the barely ninety pound girl could eat everything in the world without gaining weight. She had just placed the pastry down when she heard the voice of another ask her a question, and she quickly gulped down the bite in her mouth before answering.ย โNo - that seatโs not taken.โ She felt the othersโ eyes on the two pastries in front of her, and felt the need to explain.ย โIโm not waiting on anyone. I just have two pastries to eat,โ she laughed awkwardly, running a hand through her hair self-consciously.
ย ย ย ย ย Mercy was typically never the one to have a sweet tooth too often, but when the urges came through, she engulfed herself in it. Usually her cravings were for a piece of chocolate, maybe a couple pieces of sour candy, but today? The only thing that seemed to keep repeating in her mind was that damn chocolate croissant at the pastry place. Stepping inside the establishment made it fairly clear that she wasnโt the only one who had felt the same way. It was crowded and the lack of seats made it fairly obvious that the brunette wasnโt going to find herself a solo seat.ย
Green hues taking sight of what could be an empty seat, the brunette immediately made her way in that direction.ย โIs this seat taken?โ Mercy questioned with a soft smile and perk of a single brow, a soft chuckle leaving her lips as the other answered her.ย โOh, no worries. I got two of my own as well, so I ainโt judginโ you at all. Thank you,โ she said, pulling out the chair and claiming the spot.ย โ-You keepinโ yourself busy?โ Chin jotting towards the notebook that was in the otherโs grasp before slowly taking out her own pastry.
There isnโt a lot that he looks forward to, come the holidays, but the rapidly changing holiday cheer in town does have him reacting to it albeit subconsciously. In spite of his upbringing, Robin himself had never felt particularly close to religion, or any religious activities, no matter how much he respected those that celebrated them. If anything, he relies on the practice of gift-giving - even if heโs never been the best at them - to show others with some little bit of joy in the coldest month of their year. An opportunity to be giving more unto charity, unto others.
Thus, heโs not entirely sure what possesses him to try on the red hat with characteristic white puffball on the tip, other than some moment of insanity.ย โOh, this โ I justโฆ I wouldnโt know where to begin,โ he excused himself, shoulders turning inwards, as though it was such an easy feat to hide his frame.ย โI might as well buy it. Put it on the stairs for decoration. Wouldnโt it look good that way?โ Unsure as to whether he was trying to convince himself or the person standing just nearby on the shop.
@mapleviewstartersโ
ย ย ย ย ย The holiday spirit was never something Winter Baldwin ever got in the immersed in and her apartment was a clear indicator of such. No lights, no garlands, no treeโhell, not even a wreath hanging from her door. In the eyes of others, it mustโve been a rather sad thing to look at but when it came to the brunette? She didnโt have a reason to celebrate, so why waste her money on pretending she did? Her current trip to the store was merely to occupy one of her others friends as they gathered their own little decorations, so, naturally, Winter was standing off to the side with her attention glued to her cellphone.ย
Hearing the familiar sound of Robin Abramโs voice ringing in her ears, her dark eyes immediately perked up.ย โJust keepinโ it on the stairs seems like a waste if you ask me,โ she pointed out with an amused grin,ย โWhy donโt you get a beard to match and be this years Santa Claus? I think you could do it.โย
i mean, of course i had to bring my baby back ! a lot of muse and inspiration hit me while i was away and iโve never been more excited to have her again. nothing about her has really changed aside from her age. rather than being gone five years, she was gone for four.ย

Mercy Ovalles was born and raised in this town by her single mother, Avery, and an older brother named Robert ( Bobby ) . Their father has left the family when Mercy was only three years old and hadnโt been heard of since.
Bobby was two years older than mercy.
Growing up, Bobby had always been known for being the popular kid in school and around town. Everyone knew who he was and typically never had anything bad to say about him. He was the type to get along with just about everyone and hardly ever stuck to a single clique. Mercy, on the other hand, was almost the exact opposite.
Sheโd prefer to stick to her own little circle and preferred to stay out of the social spotlight. she was content with her own friend group.
The two siblings were thick as thieves and as close as two siblings could be. In fact, their small family were always close. They were one big happy family and despite only having each other, they were content with that. ย Their bond was strong and nothing could ever change that.
When it came time for bobby to go to college, everyone had assumed that heโd choose to stay in town and go to the townโs well - known college; even mercy had assumed for that to be the case. Never did the thought of her brother leaving cross her mind, but when he chose to go to UCLA; her world crumbled. They had never been so far apart before. But even still, she had accepted the choice and wanted nothing but for her brother to be happy.
The first two semesters without her brother was hard, but she got through it. They faced timed whenever possible and Mercy was just happy to see her brother living his life in the way he wanted to.
When bobby returned home for winter break, it was the happiest thing ever. He told endless stories about his adventures in California. Bobby soon began expressing his wishes of wanting mercy to get out of their small town and wanted his own sister to experience it for herself. there was a whole world outside of Mapleview and the last thing he wanted was for Mercy to spend her life here.
During his time back home, Mercy was seventeen years old and her brother nineteen. his friends had put together a welcome home party and begged Mercy to go out with him. That night, a lot of them had been drinking and for whatever reason, it had Bobby who decided to be the one to drive them all homeโ swearing he was sober enough to to drive. One of the worst mistakes Mercy couldโve made that night.
On their way home, their car had hit another and Bobby lost complete control of the vehicle. They swerved around and eventually, the car flipped over. None of them had been wearing a seatbelt that night, so the two friends in the backseat died on impact and both Bobby and Mercy were ejected from the vehicle.
Mercy survived the whole incident, having only sustained a broken arms, concussion as well as cuts and bruises. Bobby had been alive up until arriving at the hospitalโ where he passed away during surgery.
Above is what she told the police, but it had actually been her who had been driving. Before passing out, her brother begged her to tell the police that itโd been him driving, not her. Him preferring to take the fall as opposed to his younger sister.
After that night, Mercyโs mother no longer seemed to be a mother anymore. Just an empty vessel that wandered within their home. For a while, Mercy understood; she was going through her own struggles losing her brother the way she had. She blamed herself for what happened. But as time went on, her mother seemed to look more towards booze as her comfort. The bottles becoming her shoulder to lean on which ultimately left Mercy to take care of herself.
Their relationship turned almost non-existent. Her mother always shouting at Mercy, blaming her for the loss of her child and said whatever she could to hurt her own daughter; wanting her child to feel as bad as she had.
Outside of the home, Mercy pretended everything was okay even when the world around her knew it wasnโt. Anyone with a pair of eyes could seem the changes that happened with her mom. The only time anyone had ever seen her mom was when she was going to liquor stores. Any other chores were left in the hands of her daughter, but the girl never said anything. Refusing to allow the world to take anymore pity on her than they already had.
But thatโs not to say that Mercy had always been the same girl she was before, she changed. The girl rebelled, seemingly getting herself into more trouble than she ever had. Though, most people seemed to excuse it considering all the trauma she had gone through; which wasnโt what Mercy wanted. Even though she hadnโt realized it at the time, it was a cry for help. She was losing herself and didnโt seem to have anyone to rely on.
At the age of twenty-one, Mercy had grown fed up. One night coming home and seeing her home covered in nothing but empty liquor bottles and her mother yelling at her for something stupid, the woman couldnโt take it anymore. It was the first time in four years were the girl finally stood up for herself and wound up getting into a heated argument. It was a screaming match and anyone within a mile radius wouldโve been able to hear it. Awful words were thrown around both parties and before Mercy knew it, her motherโs hand struck her faceโ that being the final straw.
It was the night where she packed her clothes, whatever money she had saved up and left. Mercy didnโt say a word to anyone and disappeared. Never to be heard from again.
PRESENT
Her motherโs passing is the only reason sheโs back home. Being the only family member the woman had left, all the responsibility seemed to be on Mercyโs shoulder. Taking what little money she did have, the woman booked the first flight she could to North Carolina.
Mercyโs main focus is getting everything settled around the town before picking up to leave again; selling her motherโs house seeming to be the main priority. The last thing she ever wants to do is stay in Mapleview for too long. Not wanting to be surrounded by all the bad memories.
Sheโs not apologetic for leaving the way she didโ not at all. Sheโs sorry for how everyone felt when she left. If an opportunity came to go back in time and do things differently, she wouldnโt.
Has only been in town for about two weeks and is currently working as a waitress. Sheโs using the money to pay back all the bills her mother was behind on and then sheโs going to sell the house, pack up her things again and leave. She doesnโt know when that is, but sheโs praying that itโs sooner rather than later.
not me saying iโm going to bed to only post both of their intros anyway. UM ANYWAY, winter is a baby that iโm bringing back from the deadย ! itโs been forever since i last played her, so iโm definitely excited to bring her to mapleview. i apologize in advanced for her.ย

trigger warnings: drunk driving, car accident, death.
Born and raised in this very small town of Mapleview, itโs no surprise to see her wanting to get out and go somewhere that was different from the town she was raised in. Sheโs always wanted to go anywhere that was big, a city, but always felt like she was stuck. The fear of leaving behind the only place Winterโs ever called home, the familiar faces sheโs grown up withโฆ itโs hard for her to take the first step.ย
She grew up as an only child to a single mom who worked two jobs just to keep a roof over their head. A waitress by day, bartender by night. Winter Baldwin hardly ever saw her mother, but never grew to be resentful of it. Even as a child, the girl knew it was with good reasoning and no matter how distant she felt, her mother was doing what she had to in order to support them. It wasnโt something that could be complained about.
Things were good with them until the child reached the age of ten, losing her mother due to a drunk driver. Someone who had a little too much to drink hadnโt been in the right mind to drive, but decided to do it anyway. While her mom was on her way home from her night shift as a waitress, sheโd gotten hit by the car as she was crossing the street.ย
At the same time, Winter was walking home from an impromptu ice cream trip with her babysitter and unfortunately, had to witness it happen. She went from smiles to seeing her mom across to the street to ear piercing screams and cries for the lifeless body on the ground that rested on the ground.
From that moment on, everything about the Baldwin girl changed. She was forced to move in with a close friend of her momโs because no one else had the โtimeโ, โspaceโ or โmoneyโ to take care of another Baldwinโ which was complete bullshit. Her whole opinion on โfamilyโ changed after that. She doesnโt believe in the term anymore and pretends as though she doesnโt have one. They werenโt there for her when she needed them so how could you ever call that a family?
In school, she completely acted out. Anyone who dared to get on her bad side realized the repercussions of it. Being a ball full of anger, the second someone pissed her off, sheโd fight. Not just with words, but physically as well. She was no stranger to throwing the first punch when she was angry enough. Because of this, she found herself in a lot of trouble throughout the years. For a while, teachers brushed it off but the longer it went on, the less understanding they were.ย ย Winter had gotten suspended a lot and it didnโt take long for word to get around that she wasnโt the nice girl she used to be. Parents strongly encouraging their own kids to not be around her.ย
By the time she was eighteen, she gained access to her motherโs life insuranceโ that really being the only thing her mother could leave her.The family sheโd been staying with also got her own apartment, knowing that the only thing she truly wanted was to be alone. In her own little safe haven.ย It brought hopes to those around Winter that she would have the time to really think about her mom, be able to mourn the memories without the watchful eyes of others; especially since she hadnโt cried since the night of the accident.ย Alongside that, they also had a large box full of her motherโs things.. photos, clothes, jewelry. As much as they could get before donating the rest of it. They really hoped it would do some good for her. Only, Winter had other plans. The way she coped with the loss was by trying to wipe the woman from her memories completely, not wanting to be reminded of the heartbreak that followed. Not wanting to constantly be reminded that she was part of the reason her mother was no longer around. That box had been locked away in the back of her closet. Out of sight, out of mind.
RANDOM TIDBITS.ย
Winter refuses to talk about her mom and if anyone mentions her, the girl instantly closes offโ basically shutting down entirely. Itโs been SIXTEEN years and she still hasnโt come to terms with it. She wonโt.ย
Despite it all, the girl tries to be a decent person. She attempts to be friendly, tries to socialize with any and everyone. Her loyalty runs thick and sheโll always have her friends back regardless of what the situation was.
Books have always been Winterโs escape from reality. From the day she learned how, the only thing she ever seemed to do was read. Fiction novels, mostly. Something that she can emerge herself in, not having to really think about much else aside from the story being told. When sheโs not working, or partying, youโll find her sitting alone with a book covering her face.ย
Winterโs only downfall would be how she avoids anything that makes her uncomfortable or feels a way that she doesnโt want. Any type of altercation or unwelcome feelings get drowned away by the comforts of alcohol. Meaning, she is a partier. Any excuse is a good excuse for the woman to go out and get black out drunk because when she drinks, she drinks to forget.ย
