The kittens paw was as soft as velvet even through the thick leather of Mars gloves and when this tiny paw pressed her gently down so the Halforc would continue just a little moment longer scratching her downy fur, the young woman curred like a happy dove and all to willingly gave in to the kittens demand.

❝ sometime today, miss muthand. ❞

The Halforcs ears twitched after the Elfs voice and the frown returned to her face, drawing a long line between her thick eyebrows on her freckled forehead. For a second she grimaced, brazenly sticking her tounge out towards the door while knowing that she was not visible from out of the shop. “Now lets go, sweet one, we do not want to let your cranky Master wait, do we? Thank you for greeting me so lovely.” ,With a sigh the Halforc got up again, but instead of walking straight int the small shop she patiently waited for the cub to be the first to enter the shop and walk before her like a proud herold introducing a visitor. Mar had always had a good nightvision, where a human would see nothing but darkness she was able to perfectly make out shapes, movements and colours as if she was seeing in low daylight. Accordingly Mar could very well see the inside of the shop, even thought the pale glow on Naevas pelt gave the enviorment a shimmer that danced over the books and walls like small, playful wisps. The Halforc let the kitten lead her to Caelius, wher she stopped and straightened her back as if she was a soldier about to salute, although the simple linencloth without armor and hauberk she wore were a stark contrast to what a soldier would wear and even what she ususally would wear on her travels as a Mercenary:

“Greetings, Sir.”, Mars voice was strict and stern, however when her eyes wandered back to the small kitten by Caelius feet there was a certaine softness lingering behind her voice: “Does this little beauty has a name, Sir Moreau ?”

     he was always so cranky, so upset. avid yelling and proclamations of grandeur was the most common sound to grace the small feline’s ears. often she was very unmoved in regards to being used to it, but there were times where her worry would show in her posture. however brief, she showed a distinct care for her owner between looks of sincerity she put on to please him. it was clear she would grow up to be a proper albeit loving companion, even despite the hand guiding her way. perhaps there was more to the nightborne than an air of disappointment and haughty condescension .

     lavender eyes peel back from the pages of their reading material as caelius responds to her greeting with nothing more than his attention ── something she is just worthy of, for a moment, for showing up on time and making mention of his lovely little kitten. there is a wary look behind a rather satisfied expression, but he covers it up well enough with the matter-of-factly glint of his eyes .

     ❝ ah, my lovely lady naeva, ❞ he coos, something practically unheard of compared to the normally harsh and petty tone he had. ❝ how kind of you to greet such a woman with such open paws. your acceptance is truly marvelous . ❞

     the cub meows as the thin fur of her chest puffs outward in response to his praise. she sits up straighter and the runes lining her body glow brighter as she adopts an even greater sense of pride for her accomplishments. how happy that seemed to make her, hearing something so nice from one so normally sad and lonely. surely she was the best friend anyone could ever have. the gentle sheen of his features and warmed expression come and go the moment his attention returns to mar .

     ❝ though, i would ask that you not disturb my princess while she works. there is much to be done before we open. ❞ arcane magic carries an unorganized stack of books over to the space just inches away from her face, falling into a pile either before her or into her arms depending on her reaction time. ❝ these books are out of place. put them back where they belong. neatly. i won’t have a single crooked book mucking up my shelves . ❞

It was an odd thing to be back in this city again. She wanted to stay in Silvermoon for a few more days but it seemed that she was to meet someone here. And oddly enough it was near that shop she’d once visited the one where she bought her necklace. Eryis found that quite amusing, considering that the owner of the shop wasn’t particularly fond of her, or anyone, she mused to herself. 

While waiting, she heard a rustling behind her only to turn and see a tiny kitten fall onto it’s back. “Oh goodness!” The warlock rushed to see to it only to notice that this cat had landed on it’s back and was now begging to be pet. 

She chuckled softly, bending down to pet her. “Oh, you are so adorable! Yes, you are! Look at you, little thing. Oh, you’re so cute! Is this your home?” She didn’t remember seeing this cat before, “Do you live here?”   

     behind excessive purrs and the sound of skin beneath fur scratching against the warmth of the sidewalk, an oddly confirmatory meow slips by as if to answer her. all the positive, however, naeva finds it hard to move beneath the feel of such nice attention and compliments. oh, how nice she was!! all she had ever heard was the horrendous truths of mankind and their dastardly ways from her owner. what a shame this could be what she had missed !!

     yet somehow still, she found herself at his side. happily, without question. a small kitten could not understand it, but she knew that caelius needed her. perhaps he needed more company than he said he did. if she brought more to him, perhaps he might smile a little bit more .

     she pulls away from the warlock’s touch after awhile, standing up and looking at her expectantly as if to gain more of her attention. locking eyes with her only once, she then proceeds to walk towards the very same shop she had been in once before in hopes her new friend might follow her. the cub only stops as a different nightborne walks out with an air of haughtiness and disgust about him worse than caelius’. he pays no mind to the mana saber nor her friend, fully focused on leaving as soon as he can. ignoring him in all his negativity, naeva continues to wait patiently in her spot until eryis catches up with her .

A hour before sunrise Mar had been woken up by her inner clock. She had always been a early riser and  her military training had only enhanced this inclination. So while the dull morninglight started to  cut through the dark nights veil like silver blades Mar leaved her room to spend the next hour jogging through the streets until her muscles were warm and smooth, and on her skin was shimmering a thin layer of sweat like crystals. Usually Mar preferred to train by sparring against a similar expierenced fighter,  but when this was not an option- for after all she was still very foreign to the city and its citizens-, Mar kept her body from turning dull by jogging, for letting her body turning dull was the same as holding the enemys blade to her throat. The streets were empty at this hour, either those Elfs who held on to Tradition and were still living the Night as their day had already gone to sleep or those Elfs who had adjusted to the Hordes other races and lived in Daylight had yet not rosen from their beds, so noone greeted Mar when she returned to the Tavern. She had a small bath with the cold water and soap the young woman had pepared the evening before and with her now wet curls pulled back in a thick knot laying in the back of her neck, she dressed herself in the with onionpeel yellowish-orange dyed  tunic and trousers she would usually wear in her time spend off duty. Even thought she leaved Hauberk and Platearmor in her room, she bounded the Seax at the back of her belt, bound her roundshield to her back with a belt and lay her swordbelt over her shoulder. The moment Mar leaved the Tavern she could hear the feathery steps of the Innkeeper as soft as a cats walking on the corridors above her head.

Slowly, the town started to wake up. Still noone greeted her as she made her way to the shop down the street, yet eventually she was greeted. The small cubs meowing caught Mars attention promptly. “Oh?”, for a second the young woman looked aound to make sure that she was not watched, before she knelt down before Naeva. “Good Morning, little one.” A flicker of joy fluttered in the Halforcs stomach  as a smile, small but sweet like the smile of a little girl curled around the young womans thick tusks:  “Thank you for greeting me, you did very well.”

“you may come in, Miss Muthand.”, the voice from inside the shop made Mar lift up her head, her ears jolted upwards like the ears of a attentive deer. The smile had dropped off her face and a leery frown draw a deep line between her thick, bushy eyebrows.

“Aye, Sir, I am coming.”, she answered sternly , her words nothing but a annoyed grunt. But then her bright eyes fell back at the small cub and with her maidenly small hand she reached out to greet the cub with a gentle scratching behind the small animals beautifully downy ears, but stopped in her movement before touching the small saber to ask quietly: “May I, sweet one?” As a child Mar had been teached that every animal was a tool to use, yet a cat was so much more than a tool, they were a companion, a symbol, a guardian of the House. It were cats that were given to young Brides as they start their new household as a symbol of fertility, it were cats that would hunt down mouse in the pantry protecting the supplies and with that ensuring the peoples surviving, it were cats who would accompany the seafarer on their ships across the sea, protecting the supplies and spending warmth for the Merchants traveling along the coast from Kingdom to Kingdom and it were cats, the big almost dog-sized Forestcats of the Arathihighland who would accompany the Hunters in the Forests full of Ogres, Raptores and Foresttrolls to bring the Hunter and a proper prey safe and sound back to their families in the evening. One who would disrespect a cat, would disrespect the household they were guardining and Mar had always been a respectful person.

Especially when the one she was respecting had adorable big eyes that glowed as beautifully as the stars.

     mornings were naught more than a routine. caelius hardly knew of sleep. he woke when needed and slept in time in between the grueling hours of work and personal plans. magics and enchantments did much in his stead when he grew too tired to physically do them all himself. it saved energy, the pain of having to over-exert to assure things were as they should be. he found no point in wasting his time with frivolous labor that could so easily be accomplished with a flick of the wrist. lack of it showed in his thin frame and long digits. he was lean and quick, but regrettably fragile. in truth, much like the petals of a starlight rose. an orc of any stature with any decent measure of physical strength could send him flying should they get a hold of him. yet, they would have to catch him first for such a thing to happen. any common man wouldn’t have a hope of laying their hands on him. not even the rare, selective people he trusted were allowed near him unless he bid them welcome. should his magic quit on him, the runed dagger at his thigh would prove a suitable second line of defense. though graced with a supple body, enough will and a hint of magic would let him pierce any hide he so chose to .

     brooms and feathered fans clean up the remnants of gathered dust and any litter left lying about from the day prior. each working in a set pattern, never deterring from their course as they expertly dodged one another en route. he knew precisely of this routine. every morning, day in and day out. though it would vary to some decree today, in thought of his employed guard lending her aid. it was not an ideal situation. but there was merit in his decision to allow it. nothing quite tickled his fancy like putting other people in their place. how good it would feel to be in charge of one so non-complacent to his way of life .

     but of all the dull parts of a shop done up so extravagantly to impress, the big, sparkling eyes of his mana saber cub gave it a natural feeling. it was not often he had brought the young kitten to work. naeva was awfully eager and partook in fleeting flights of fancy. she always garnered as much attention as he would assume he had, making it quite difficult to keep people from attempting to play with her. while it worried him to no end to have her at risk of being harmed, she found no trouble in other people. her head butts gently against mar’s nails, insisting on being scratched and calming her worries all the same. she spoke nothing but a soft, reverberating meow, and yet she seemed to say so much more. even as the half-orc would go to pull away, a paw would keep her hand in place just a little longer before allowing her to lean up once again .

      ❝ sometime today, miss muthand. ❞ came the equally stern, already displeased tone from within the store. naeva curls a bit at the negative infliction of tones that rise between them, but soon returns to her normal stature as she stands before mar as if to properly escort her inside. there is pride in her quick, short gate inside, the dim lighting of the store catching her eyes and the shimmers in her purple bow. the mana printed patterns on her fur bring another source of light to the place, and one all the lovelier as she stops to wait patiently for her new friend to catch up .

     straight stance, forward facing. proper posture, fur puffed and tidied ── that was how she was taught to sit patiently by the door of the shop while her owner opened. it was her free breath of fresh air, a place to be seen where people might admire her and look on to how absolutely sweet and sincere she was. though she adored attention just as much as caelius, she adored it in a way that did not pertain to the selfishness of fame and limelight he displayed. so young and shut in, she wished only to lick tears and bound across the mana-ridden fields of suramar with friends and go on adventures. but alas!! proper cats did not go on adventures. they walked loyally at their master’s side with their heads held high, prideful and filled with grace. she was meant to be lavished, not to ravage. but perhaps, one day, she might be her master’s guardian. she loved him, after all .

     the sight of the half-orc arriving on time an hour before opening as requested did not seem to deter her stance at first. her master had spoke once or twice about the company they would have at the shop that day. rummaging and the sound of enchanted cleaning supplies pour from the cracked door as the kitten continues to stare at what she presumed to be her company for the day as she approached. it is only when she drew closer to her that naeva stood up, the sense of excitement overwhelming her small stature as she meows loudly in alert and eagerness .

     how happy she was to see her new friend!! yet what a shame it was that inside the store, caelius did not fully share her excitement .

     sniff, sniff the unfamiliar scent and hear the sounds that brings an ever-curious kitten further and further away from caelius’ side. how often, it seemed, that she had not been able to explore and be about on her own. how much he cared for her. to a rambunctious little thing, such attachments only felt like an unnecessary cage and yet she hated seeing him so sad. he got so cross with her when she was away. but every time he barked commandments to her, she could smell the bitter salt on his face. perhaps she was still mistaking his freckles for salt. or perhaps, his tears just made them all look like little salt licks .

     little fangs bare themselves as a once well-kept pet lies lonely on a small rock just on the edge where the dirt meets the grassy line of a field. the chill of a night breeze leaves its surface cold and unfit to be the bed she’s grown so used to being in. maybe she went too far out this time. the wind tugs at her shimmering purple bow and the marks in her fur glow and undulate as she does everything possible to find comfort in such a situation. ❝ mmrrrrr ...❞ comes the dissatisfaction of a mewl, echoing through the stone like the hollowed rattling of bones . // @frozenconsort - starter call.

     fast moving fabric and small swatches of color unbeknownst to sharp little eyes as nothing more than varying degrees of grey claim her full attention. the slightest patting of silk against dark pants as the stranger walks, just enough to form a fair distance between her and it. the kitten shuffles across walkway and into grass and paws leap up to the small, flowing fabric just within her reach. claws hold her onto her clothed prey but only a moment as she soon finds herself slipping off and back onto the ground .

     she wasn’t supposed to out and about chasing things. how many times had she been told not to get so involved with strangers? caelius had no patience with other people and she was meant to be a treasure. still, naeva was but a cub. even she could not resist playing with clothing so tantalizingly close to her. she pays no mind to him, regardless of his actions of realization, and continues to follow the flapping cloth on his back around so long as the stranger should dare permit it . // @crownofearth - starter call.

     small, cold nose presses against the translucent petals of potted star roses as a small, curious little saber kitten looks into the scent of flowers decorating her owner’s shop. a quick, small stride carry paws across concrete and down across solid ground until the beast finds herself at the shoes of a sin’dorei. the conflict of mana and fel fill the cat’s senses as she stares up at the towering woman before her. a silken purple bow bobs around her neck as she sits comfortably where she had previously sniffed, curiously eyeing the warlock as though she had never seen an elf with skin so light before .

      ❝ mmmriaao ── ?? ❞ arcane-singed eyes bounce and ripple in intrigue, sending the cat tumbling backwards onto her back and bow. stomach exposed, she begs ( and perhaps challenges ) the stranger with arms outstretched to pet the mana-surging skin of her tummy .

     it couldn’t be that caelius’ shop was closed. the door lay wide open, with the cat walking in and out of it as though she had made herself a place within it somewhere. no stray held a bow so pretty, so laced with glitter and shine that was so similar to the nightborne’s bright freckles. perhaps he had a heart for something, after all . // @sindoreisisters - starter call.
