The face-a-day challenge really paid off: I can draw faces pretty good!... Can’t say the same for the body oops 8D;;;;

(I’m not even in the fandom! I just think Hanzo is pretty and would look nice with glasses :D! Hanzo with animu megane!character pose lol)

I’m trying to draw gijinkas of my dragons. This here pissed off child is Suirellon. He’s a Wind Imperial who likes to pretend he’s an Ice dragon, but has a temper to match his current Fire home. The thought going through his mind is probably something along the lines of ‘Not sure if want, but very sure will kill it dead’.

That is him in his imp glory :D!

Omgosh gallface I didn’t know you were as cute as a button :D! *gently pats ur hella kawaii face* :DDDDD!!!!! Haha even if you pull an intense stare into the camera, you’re still hella cute :3. I neglected to ask if I could add the source, so if I can, lemme know and I’ll upload that too, yeah? :D

Gosh, I’m starting to see I’m sort of improving? The placements and stuff and general lines are becoming less erratic and more fixed to where they should be I guess, if that makes any sense :). Also the hair and top of the head aren’t too short anymore! (Lol going back to my previous drawings I noticed I’d sometimes make the head too short which resulted in a few drawings that looked a bit off and I couldn’t put my finger on why haha.)

My favourite part to draw was probably that intense stare and the accompanying maybe-murderous smile XD;. I hope I did it justice XDDDD!

(Drawn 15-AUG-2015, It took me 2.5 hours to draw, but I got distracted a lot with random things, so it might be closer to 1.5 hours probably.)

Woohoo! This is another irl friend of mine who so graciously lend me her face for practice purposes :D! It was great to have an open mouthed smile this time that showed off actual toofs!

I think as long as I make sure things are relative to other things, I can actually do this drawing stuff FAST and do the original justice :o. No source btw, as she didn’t want it online :p.

Favourite thing to work on? The smile :D! It was quite some work to map out the teeth and the bottom lip stumped me for a bit as the first few attempts ended up like she got her lip stung lol. The sketch actually came pretty close to the end result! Gotta try keeping that up :o!

(Drawn 14-AUG-2015, took less than 1.5 hours :D! I only ran into problems with teeth and bottom lip, everything else went smoothly :3!)

I’m too tired tonight to do a real person face, so how about I show you what I’ve been working on and off on for the past week?

Look at this pissed off little shit! She’s my boss character from Saints Row 3 and 4 :D! I couldn’t port her over from SR3, so I had to painstakingly recreate her perfect scornful mug from scratch D8! Was well worth the 2 hours though 8p.

Her personality can be summed up with ‘LET’S FUCK SHIT UP HELL YEAH!!! EXPLOSIONS!!!! BRUH-FIST!!!’... which is basically what everyone’s boss is but whatevs man :p. She’s not too bright to be honest; she heavily relies on everyone else (but Kinzie and Matt especially) to be the smart butts. She’ll also lick her way through the candy canes because she has a major sweet tooth haha.

I ship her with no one in particular because she’s too busy to engage in shipping activities anyway (come on, taking down other crime syndicates is hard enough as it and you gotta take some time to enjoy the explosions!).

Drawing in instalments is weird, because like, you have the initial sketch, where her face is too narrow. But then the actual lines, her face is a wee bit too wide. That’s probably caused by the features being not where they should (oh man, I can definitely tell this is made a while back because it’s not as good as it could be XD;;;).

Moral of the story: don’t work in instalments when you’ve still got oodles of room to improve haha lol XD;;;.

(Drawn 07 to 14-AUG-2015, took about 2.5 hours? You can definitely see it’s not drawn in one go lol *hides face in embarrassment* /)u(\. The lines are purple because it fits with Saints Row lol.)

Well... you did say to ‘take your pick’... People! Give it up for jesliey and his awesome face 8D!!! As you can see from my brilliant substitution, he is a connoisseur de dank memes ;).

Man, you have no idea how much fun this one was XD! I think I probably had to stop a bunch of times because I was laughing so much. Like yeah, dignified poses and pretty expressions are great, but sometimes you just want to draw something funny and this guy just delivered! *gently pats ur face* Please never stop making weird faces like these; the world would be a lot less bright without them.

Oh dear, what was my favourite thing to draw? Definitely the skinfolds! There are so many of them XD!!!! I was kinda stumped on how to do those without making them go all over the place and out of proportion, but using other facial structures as reference points was the way to go :D! I think I did okay, but there’s of course always room for improvement :).

(Drawn 12-AUG-2015, took roughly 2 hours including background. But I kept getting distracted by outbursts of mirth that it was spread over 3 hours more like lol.)

This is handsome fellah frost-jack, or Matt :D! I’m pretty sure he piqued my interest because of his Dave Strider cosplay at the time (gosh that’s a long time ago! :O!). I’m pretty sure he’s stopped Stridering about, but now there’s stuff like Noiz cosplay, Cain cosplay, and Jack Frost cosplay :D!

Anyway! I badly botched the perspective and foreshortening thing and just went ‘wut perspective??? forewhatta???? 8D???’. Sorry about that 8D;! I need to learn how to work with that :l.

On the other hand, I think I’m doing ok with the faces now? Important bits aren’t just floating all over the place anymore at least :D!

I don’t know what my favourite part to draw was to be honest... I think it might have just been the fact that Matt’s face is long? Everyone else had generally short face shapes, so it’s great to draw something different :D!

(Drawn 11-AUG-2015, took uhm, I think 2.5 hours? The initial sketch only took 10 minutes, but I used a lot of time figuring out how the perspective thing worked, before flinging that out the window D8;. Then there was some time spend dicking around with the clothes and an attempt was made at background lol. I know, the background looks weird and horrible XD;;;;...)

Look! This is my cousin :D! She’s a hard-working and quiet gal and one of my favourite cousins ^^! She actually does artisty stuff for a living holy shit :o! (Although I think she does industrial design? She arts the packaging and stuff and in the past she would show me really cool stuff she did for class :D!)

She’s usually the one to take me places when I’m in Hong Kong and it’s generally fun to be around her :) *gently pats cousin’s face*

Anyway, no source. Because 8p. You know, the shape her eyes currently have are called ‘phoenix eyes’ in Chinese and it’s really rad that she just does that when she smiles :D! I’m appalled I never noticed to be honest D8;.

Anyway, all lolz aside! I liked working on this one because I like those half, one-sided smiles some people do (because that’s how I smile too :D!). I’m not entirely convinced I did it as much justice though ene... (sorry Khemster! D8;!) I hope you see this and recognise yourself in there 8D!

(Drawn 09-AUG-2015, took about 1.5 hours for the face itself. Then I spend another hour trying to get the clothing details right. I might have still botched the hat though D8;.)

To start with, I’m sorry for making your initial sketch look like you‘ve got some odd face-squishing going on D8;. And for the weird toupet. I’m sorry m(_ _;)m...

I was mostly thrown off by his mouth since this is the first time I’m drawing someone with a non-smiling mouth :o. Was a good exercise tho! Thanks Captain, for letting your natural RBS (Resting Bitchface Syndrome) shine through 8D! Tis much appreciated and no matter what anyone else says, I think you look great with it, you magnificent bastard! 8′3

This here is one of my friends irl. She was kind enough to lend me her face for drawing purposes :D! I love how her eyes came out, they look so gentle!

So I though my problem was with shapes and not using them, but I struggled drawing this one as well. I think my problem is perhaps front-facing people? Slight angles and weird angles are no big deal as it gives a lot of points of reference etc, but front-facers seem to have less of them? *need to think on this*

I also had problems with her cheeks, just like with Neeners’. As you can see in the sketch, I kinda overemphasize them and that just makes the subject look like a puffer fish when they’re obviously not a self-inflating angry fish D8;.

At any rate, this one came out looking similar to the source, although I may have botched the hat lol.

(Drawn 07-AUG-2015, took 2 hours because I kept correcting and fixing and then getting annoyed and starting all over again with the lines. I also drew on the wrong layer and had to fix that oop 8D;;;!)

Wo dis? Why this is gobetti! I accidentally made her look saucier, but I think it suits her :p. I think I’m starting to get the hang of this drawing business. I think my favourite part of this one are the lips, they look so pretty :3!

By the way, I’m using a brush here that kapteeni-mortti provided. Thanks Captain 8D! I said I didn’t like it much for initial sketching, but I take that back D8. It was a matter of using a smaller size really lol.

This adorable doofus is maxxiedemon. There’s no source because I dunno if Max is okay with that (are you ok with that? D8?). See how I used BASIC ASS SHAPES here for the initial sketch??? I think the BASIC ASS CIRCLE is gonna be my other best friend :B!

Max was relatively easy to draw (BECAUSE BASIC ASS SHAPES), although I think I was thrown off by her lips I think? The upper one is a bit hard to see in the source so I struggled with trying to get it right. I think I did well enough :).

I do need to have a giggle at how her eyes look way dilated but I assure you that’s merely because she has brown eyes and putting pupils on her would look hella creepier D8;.

Here’s another one! This cutie with extra funky glasses is itsybitsybird. She was kind enough to tolerate my drawing spam so she gets to be drawn :D!

AND BOY WAS SHE HARD TO DRAW! D8;;;! I didn’t realise until today WHY she was the only one I struggled so much with but then it hit me. You know those tutorials that essentially start with ‘USE YO GODDAMM BASIC ASS SHAPES!!!’? Well, they were right. See, I didn’t use those basic shapes for Neener’s initial sketching and it shows in how placement of her features were all over the place :/.

On the bright side, I figured out how to use the transform tool to correct things lol!
