Blindness from the middle of
the Earth, a darkness borne beneath
suffocated two branches from the root
A fire burned a sister down to ash on
One side of the tree.
Long black hair burns end to end
Seen from hills ahead
Foul polymethyl meaty churning in
Hot water. unknown self immolation
After soft thudding years and shifted earth
A scarred tree twisted darkly in the grass
And look how it has broken down its branches.
Life lost while living as it took another
In color draining down the back
And gnarled hands turned inwards
Kept abreast in stiff protection
A chair in the corner of a room for
her own forever, a pencil and a thread
in cotton openings and smiles toothless
Brown and pink
Eyes missing under soft folded flesh
that twitches quietly, and only i can
see it, as a child who watches closely
To feel her pain of burning longing ,
Of missing out on morning, and losing
Half her perfect world in frightened red hot anger.
