Whilst in class last week I had a few of my peers do some user testing with both my Invision and my Keynote prototype. For the most part everything was working well and as they expected. Here are the questions that I asked them when conducting the research: 1. Look around and talk about what you think this is about. What can you do here, what's it for, what strikes you about it?
- User Tester #1: “It looks like a weather website with maybe some sort of destination of photography related to it. I like the backdrop, it’s a nice photo.”
- User Tester #2: “This resembles a weather mobile app for a desktop. I really like the font and the irish slang,”
- User Tester #3: “It looks like a weather teller. Nothing really strikes me about it.”
- User Tester #4 “This looks like some sort of a weather website where I can either get the current weather of the 10 day forecast when putting in a location”
2. Think of something you might want to do here. Try and do that thing.
- User Tester #1: “I think I’m going to try and find the weather for next week.”
- User Tester #2: “I’ll attempt to find the current weather.”
- User Tester #3: “I want to find what the weather is like in London, England”
- User tester #4 “I’m going to try and find the weather for today. I didn’t realize that there was two buttons that could be clicked to conduct the weather. These should be more emphasized.”
3. What, if anything, do you like or dislike? Since this isn’t a finished design, what would you like to see in the final version?
- User Tester #1: “I really like the layout of this, it’s simple and cohesive to use. I would like to see maybe some animation to this, or something to bring more excitement to it.”
- User Tester #2: “I found this to be a nice and very practical tool that I would use. I’d like to see it put some instruction in on that front page.”
- User Tester #3: “I really likes the sense of humour that this website provides. It made me laugh at the puns, and I would use this site for simple weather info.”
- User Tester #4: I think that this is a very simple and to the point weather website which provides exactly what I’m looking for when looking at the weather. I like that it’s so simple and not overwhelming. To improve it, there should be some instruction to select wht kind of weather I’m looking for, but also emphasize that the circles on the front page are buttons.”
