oh btw just in case nobody ever told you. just because your life looks different than you thought it would doesn't mean that your life is bad or wrong or disappointing or less than. sometimes things aren't good or bad. sometimes they're just different
demonizing hustle culture is such an interesting topic for me. it’s totally valid to want rest & to not basically tailor your life to work, but i also feel like a lot of proponents of “working hard is just buying into society standards of productivity” speak from a place of privilege bc like. you do realize that a lot of people need to work, right. you do realize that a lot of people can’t afford to stay at home and not have a job. it’s almost cruel to shame someone for being in that position, when at times it’s both unavoidable and vital
this is not even bringing into account the fact that some people like to hustle. yes a lot of subliminal messaging from society might influence some people to buy into hustle culture, but there probably are a decent amount of people—in the grand scheme of 8 billion—who like their 9 to 5s and their structure and just the work that they do, regardless of their financial situation. & that’s literally okay too and should not be shamed
