Having completed one of my Hypnobirthing courses, Musician and Ex-BBA star, Jerome Arab is a proud new hypnodad to his adorable little boy. He and Namvula Rennie were gloriously relaxed, happy and content during my visit. And their baby? A calm, content hypnobaby of course!! We all know how important birthing partners are, but Jerome took it to a whole new level. So much so that I suggested a KGH teacher or doula role for him within Oxford Hypnobirthing! Jerome quite rightly pointed out that he is suitably busy with his young family and his music career, but if they ever add more hours to the day? Who knows?! Jerome, serving tea before holding his newborn son so Namvula could peacefully drink, had some wise words for birthing partners. He pointed out how important it is for partners to attend as many KGHypnobirthing classes as they can, to truly engage in the process and practice together. He explained how he used the anchors to remind his partner of their Hypnobirthing; with words like ‘breath’ ‘relax your shoulders’ ‘calm’ or a simple stroking of the hand. He reassured Namvula throughout as the good old NHS threw a few curve balls their way, like that old chestnut… “Sorry, we’re full…you'll have to birth somewhere else”! Crucially he described how an informed KGHypnobirthing partner can bring confidence & calm to the birth, whatever the curve balls. Why? Because glorious calm, confidence is infectious!! Congratulations Jerome & Namvula, you are adorable, incredible partners, parents & people. I look forward to your baby updates and seeing you all again soon! (at Steph McGee Hypnotherapy)
