I started watching Beastars. I searched Legoshi and Adam Driver just because I get a vibe that they are kind of similar (big but soft) and find that there is Reylo drama apparently tied to this show??

Like, people get deeply offended when people compare Reylo to Legoshi and Haru??

I’ve been off tumblr for so long I forgot how people get upset over the dumbest stuff. So what if you don’t think Legoshi is similar to Kylo? Why are you so mad someone has a different opinion? Even if they completely misunderstood Legoshi’s character, why do you think bullying people over anime is a worthwhile endeavor? Especially the way the world is today??

Internet fandom activist are so fucking dumb and useless, especially as we are living through a PANDEMIC and MOVEMENT THAT DEMANDS BLACK LIVES TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT.

Kylo Ren was always intended to have this much screen time/character development

We know this, because Adam agreed to play him based on the plan they had for the character since the beginning.

As a person of color, I’m not going to lie, I’m dissatisfied with Finn’s character. But, I don’t blame that on Kylo, the only new character who SHOULD take up so much time (he is the son of two legacy characters after all), I blame it on JJ making Poe a lasting character.

Poe was supposed to die in The Force Awakens. But it was later decided that he would stay alive. In my opinion, that was the moment they messed Finn over. Reylos have been saying the trio should’ve been Rey, Finn, and Kylo. The three of these characters dealing with the burden of what was left to them by the legacy characters.

Rey is a Jedi, she cannot share her story with anyone who isn’t force sensitive. Kylo is a Skywalker and villain (currently) and his arc is the only reason Adam Driver agreed to do the part, so he can’t share either. So the only person left for Poe to encroach on was Finn, the resistance hero in the making. They now have to share that resistance hero story. Finn should’ve been that resistance storyline by his damn self goddamn it. It’s not fair they made him share with a character that was supposed to fucking die in the original script.

Finn should’ve had the journey of a former child soldier, running away from a war he saw no purpose in, to a resistance hero who found purpose in dismantling the oppressive system he used to run away from. Poe should’ve died, so my man Finn didn’t get royally messed over.

I definitely think that Poe has usurped Finn’s intended role but not simply because he didn’t die but because for whatever reason Lucasfilms just decided he was the more interesting character to expand upon. They gave him his own comic series, set him up as Leia’s successor in the Resistance and gave him cameos in Star Wars Resistance. Last Jedi’s Resistance plot line shouldn’t have been about Poe’s conflicts with his superiors. It should have been Finn getting acclimated to his new life outside the First Order and experiencing the ordinary things in life he had been denied as a child soldier. Poe’s role should have been structured more like that of a big brother figure to Finn, continuing the sort of dynamic they had when they first met where Poe gives him a real human name. That’s what I was expecting and looking forward to in that movie– Finn rediscovering what it means to be human and forming genuine bonds with Resistance members that he wants to fight alongside them and even lead them. It’s a real shame because that would have been a really beautiful story and it was thrown away to give the Resistance more of a traditional action hero.

Latino is not a race, it’s a culture. There are white Latinos so the race argument is laughable. Oscar is non-black, so him taking up Finn’s screen time is even dumber because his non-black character was not important to the plot, and they still prioritized him over the black character. (Again, he’s so unimportant that he was going to be fucking killed off in the original script.)

Kylo Ren is the son of two legacy characters and is the antagonist of the trilogy. That’s not a secondary character hun.

latino actors in heroic roles are proportionally underrepresented, as are black actors. oscar isaac is latino; adam driver is not. exact definitions of race aren’t… relevant?

(the primary characters of the trilogy, as presented by the force awakens, are finn and rey. plus arguably the original trio? well, han, but he dies so no one expects him to get screentime later. the secondary characters are the next level of importance. actually maybe han is here. so is kylo ren. et cetera.)

I disagree, and I’m not tryna have a debate about this shit on tumblr. That was my thing two years ago but I really don’t care about the topic that much anymore. The sequel trilogy pretty much botched everyone’s character, and dissecting it is entirely unnecessary at this point.
