Okay but seriously I absolutely love peds. I love the kids, I love the families. I can absolutely see myself doing this for the rest of my life.

Day 4 of peds and now that we actually have patients, I’m really enjoying it! I can definitely see myself doing something like this in the future. My only concern is that this peds unit is very small so anything really serious gets sent to the bigger parent hospital, and idk if I can handle the really really sick kids that don’t get better. I mean ideally, I’d like to work on a unit like this. But I still have to survive residency.

Today was exhausting. We had no patients all day, so I spent 8 hours just getting pimped. I really hope tomorrow is better.

Holy shit. Tomorrow is my first day of clinical rotations. The last 2 years simultaneously sped by and dragged on. I can’t believe it’s actually here! I’ll be on inpatient peds for the first 2 weeks, which I heard has one of the best preceptors for my campus. Please send all of the good vibes! 😬

We went over the log books we have to complete for each rotation and wow did the panic set it. Idk if it’s normal or a result of having to do basically all of med school virtually but I feel wildly unprepared. Any advice on how to survive clerkships is more than appreciated 😬

So I FINALLY got my daily rotation schedule (at least for the next 3 weeks) and I’m SO flipping excited that I’ll be in the newborn nursery first and Friday is my dedicated delivery time so I’ll be delivering babies!! I’m definitely nervous, especially since my preceptor is a little intimidating, but omg I literally can’t wait for Monday!!!

Incredibly thankful that I had the forethought to pick up Dunkin’ yesterday for this morning. Because that 4:15 alarm just hits differently 😴 Scrub training this morning, one more tour of one of the regional hospitals, and clerkship training, and then I’m officially set off into MD3 year 😳
