🦴 Snap the receiver’s dislocated shoulder back into place. from steve to leon
“Ngh-.., thanks..”
"no problem! i uh, hope i did that right.." he smiled awkwardly and let go of leon, which took a minute because his claws got attached to his shirt. "sorrey-"
“It’s okay.”
"you sure you'll make it? your face is pale."
“Yeah, just.. lost a bit of blood.”
"a little? you look like a ghost! let me patch you up, it's the least i can do-"
“No, it’s okay…” he tried to stand up, but his legs gave out.
steve tensed and caught him by the arm, pulling him upright. "man, you're a shit liar." he remarked, then awkwardly wrapped leon's arm around his shoulders for support. "i thought they'd give special agents lying classes or something."
Leon allowed himself to lean on the other man’s shoulder. “Ngh.. mf…”
"don't pass out on me now, unless you want me to carry ya." he offered out. his shirt and hair smelled strongly of fresh cut grass. "you're kinda heavy but i think i can manage..."
“S.. sorry. I..” he put more effort into walking. “Let’s get out of here.”
"hey, don't worry about it. i'm offering, seriously." steve put his other hand around leon's side for extra support as they walked forward.
They’re able to walk for about a mile and a half before Leon collapsed again, looking somehow worse.
steve fumbled as leon fell back down, letting out a small "hey!-" and then not long after joining him on the ground. "okay, come on, just let me see it. i'm not gonna eat you." he tried to sound more assertive with only mild luck, already pawing at wherever the blood was forming.
Leon managed to peel off his jacket, revealing a blood soaked shirt. Leon’s eyes were dropping heavily.
"okay, okay- hey-" steve lightly smacked at leon's face a few times. "stay with me." he took the jacket leon had and ripped most of it into strips, then yanked leon's shirt up unceremoniously. "jeez-" steve's nose scrunched up at the smell. "you couldn't tell me any sooner?"
He pushed himself into a more upright position. “Wanted to- ngh-.. get you out of here first…… didn’t know I’d- gah!-“ he took some deep breaths. “Get so weak so quickly…”
steve shot leon a baffled look. "me? look at me, i'm- i'm fine. i don't get you. i could've taken the hit if you said something." he pressed some of the torn up fabric against the wound, and then used the rest to tightly wrap it in place. "i'm not exactly human anymore so..."
“You still need to get out. I need to make sure you get out.”
"why? it's not like this is a competition, you have to get out too." he frowned at leon, and his awkward patch job, but figured it would have to do.
“I know, I just… just get out.”
"no way man- if i leave without you they'll think i did something!" he fired back in a more panicked tone. "that or sherry and claire will hunt me down and beat me to death." steve stood up, offering his hands out to leon. "i'll carry you."
“I can walk. Let’s go.”
"sure..." he said it sarcastically but still helped pull leon to his feet.
Leon continued to shuffle along.
"what's the deal anyway?... you'd seriously think i'd ditch?"
“Not really. Just.. it might be for the best… if I…” he trailed off.
"are you serious? it's one scratch- besides, all everyone does is talk about you. if something happened... i'd never hear the end of it. i uh, kinda get why now, though.. even if you are being a baby right now."
He snickered. “They do?”
"well- i haven't seen her in a while, but claire mentioned you when we were on rockfort. sherry talks about you sometimes... you got people that worry about you." steve gave him a timid smile. "i may not be up there on the list yet but i'm still waiting to see you do something badass, so i guess i won't leave you behind for now."
He chuckled. “You missed all of my badassery. That was before I got all fucked up.”
"nuh uh. now you're just a badass silver fox." steve chuckled along with him with a pointed grin. "but if you're talking back problems, i get your pain- part of why i take up the couch over the bed."
“I’m talking about my stab wound.”
"ah right- guess that takes priority over a messed up back and shoulder huh?... uh, ignore the silver fox thing-"
“No way.”
"aw c'mon, why not? i'm sure you've heard it already-"
“And I’m telling Claire that you said it.”
"whuh! no! she doesn't even- i don't even-"
