DREAM MODE
What I love about generative and procedural art is that you can get unexpected results using random and noise functions. So I thought why not take that further.
For this images I took one of my codes that processes from a source photo and implemented a “Dream Mode” algorithm which simply takes a bunch of the variables used, randomizes them and then runs the program again.
Makes for some great inspiration in developing new creative ideas.

With new depth sensing technology on mobile phones comes new things to play with. I was able to extract the depth data (black and white matte) from my iPhone X, which I believe in the next iOS update has significant improvement. I then wrote a function in processing to do a basic conversion to a normal map. After that is the original pic of me looking all broody and cold with red cheeks. Followed by some experiments utilizing both maps to do different stuff. Very exciting. Look out for more coming. The depth-to-normal code took me a while to figure out. It’s not ideal but if you’d like me to share it I’m happy to if people are interested.
Art on display + GnT in hand + friends and family = great day :)
As always it’s so exciting to see my work printed. It makes even me appreciate the detail that a billion particles make.
Elephant Man
Only just realized I accidentally posted these a month ago to my geeky Pokémon blog instead of my art blog! 😂 Sorry. Here you go. Here’s what you missed!
Me standing next to a commissioned print I made! The 170cm tall canvas print based on the Vinegar Skipping Girl came out looking amazing, I’m really happy with it. Can’t wait to see it go to its new home.
Abstract landscapes - made with Processing
Process vid of my latest experiments. Dots and averages.
Made entirely using circles and average colour functions. Didn’t expect the Voronoi style pattern but it’s very cool.
