Steven Wooddell is a musician in the Atlanta area. This started out as a wedding blog- then it slowly morphed into lots of other things... Glad you’re visiting and since the themes could wander again please check back from time to time! Steven grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and studied piano, organ, clarinet and saxophone while in high school. He wound up going to the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem- a move that let him get out of Roanoke and study organ at the same time. From there he went to the Cleveland Institute of Music (great music school, but Cleveland in the 90’s was not a garden spot) His desire to get back to warmth and get a break from music school landed him in Sewanee, Tennessee where he did a three year internship playing organ for the university choir and the Episcopal seminary there. While there he met his wife Joy while playing a piano duet part for an orchestra concert. They were married a year later and now live happily in Rome, Georgia with their three children. From Sewanee he moved to Dallas Texas to go to Southern Methodist University (great music school but he didn’t realize that trees and the absence of 30 consecutive days over 100 degrees were a thing he liked). After school they moved back to Virginia and then eventually to the Atlanta area. Although he is classically trained as a musician Steven also plays jazz and contemporary styles, He has worked in traditional and contemporary church settings and is comfortable switching styles when it comes to weddings and receptions. A wedding ceremony should be able to reflect the personality of the bride and groom as well as their families. On stevenwooddell.com there are a wide range of options for wedding ceremony music. Steven also enjoys playing for receptions, parties, and other special events.
Over the last year I’ve gotten an organ in the basement that plays notes recorded from other organs. I recorded several pieces to show what it sounds like and have a brief explanation as well. I'm using Hauptwerk to play an organ from Rotterdam and from Caen, France
