Recently i have a growing interest in learning more about mythology, specifically celtic/norse and aztec mythology so i can be closer to my roots. does anyone have any resources or know where I could start looking?

also, since i’m starting grad school, i really really need to actually get organized so what are your favorite planners for school? i would prefer it to be pretty cheap but if it’s worth the money i would be willing to spend a bit more!

I’m baaaaaack!!

Another semester in the books means a little reflection time. I didn’t do as well as I wanted to this semester, not just grade wise but staying on top of things as well.

I made 1 B and 3 As usually I would be fine with that but the reason I’m so mad at myself is because I got a B because I wasn’t really trying but it was so hard to force myself to care when all my classes talked about the same things and were more or less structured the same as well, it felt like doing the same thing 4 times but I’m reminding myself that we’re in a pandemic and that it’s okay.

I am sad to report that I have not studied for the gre at all. I mean I barely started this week, it was just an endless cycle of “I’ll start studying at the beginning of the month and then take it at the end of the month” and the end of the month would come and i hadn’t studied at all. The price is so high and it’s so hard for me to come across that money that I don’t want to waste it. The program I want to get into only accepts 8-12 people so I have a couple backups but the backups don’t require the gre and I’ve already paid the application fee so I mean either way I’d lose money. The due date is quickly approaching and while I have time, I obviously don’t have the same kind of time I had before. This mostly just feels like what I did my senior year of high school and I promised myself I would never let myself do this again and here I am. I don’t know I’m just really stressed, taking another practice GRE today to reevaluate how much time I need to study, maybe I can take the test before I go back home for break.

Next semester is going to be rough, I can tell. Between my ever dwindling motivation and the fact that the classes I chose all require substantial reading and various assignments, I feel, for lack of a better word, screwed. I mean I’m very excited to take the classes but I also feel a huge amount of pressure because I know that if I fall behind for one week it will be a huge struggle to get back.

Small life update:

I’ve narrowed it down to the 4 schools I’m applying for for grad school

my goal for the week is to finalize a study plan for the GRE

I’ve already finished the applications (aside from the resumes and personal statements, etc.)

I applied for the McNair Scholar’s program at my school and I have an interview on Friday 🤞

First day of fall semester is underway! I only had one class today, but my schedule is still filled up with thesis work and my side job as a research assistant. This is my virtual learning setup which includes a small ring light that is out of frame and a very delicious lunch

Did I seriously buy a whole lot of books during quarantine that will probably sit on my shelf for the next decade because, somehow, I find myself procrastinating on reading books as I’m indecisive and love the thought of having books but not actually opening them for a long time? Um, perhaps. I can’t wait to read this book though; this is the one that I’m super excited about and already know that my love for it will probably be comparable to my love for Ari & Dante. I’ll let y’all know if I’m right about that though! However, you might have to wait until, uh, maybe 2030? Nonetheless, I hope the universe has treated y’all with warmth and love this week! 🤍✨
