Mary II of England
Today's topic is Mary II of England. Did you know...? In an attempt to damage William, James encouraged his daughter's staff to inform her that William was having an affair with Elizabeth Villiers.
James's, and was named after her ancestor, Mary, Queen of Scots.
Following the death of either William III or Mary II, the other was to continue to reign.
James's Palace in London on 30 April 1662, was the eldest daughter of James, Duke of York (the future James II & VII), and his first wife, Anne Hyde.
Popular histories usually refer to their joint reign as that of "William and Mary".
