activists hijack fast-food hashtag
During the 2014 Olympic games, LGBT activists used McDonalds cheers to Sochi hashtag to raise awareness about Russia’s anti-LGBT Laws. This forced McDonalds to release a statement “McDonalds supports human rights, the spirit of the Olympics and all the athletes who’ve worked so hard to compete in the Games. We believe the Olympic games should be open to all, free of discrimination”

The Trevor project is the leading national organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention to LGBT people under 25. This organization has helped save countless lives with its hashtag trevor project, circulating around LGBT friendly youth social media.

anti-sodomy law unconstitutional
The case to come out of Texas is Lawrence v. Texas. In that case, two men were convicted for having consensual sex in a private home, under the Texas anti-sodomy law. The case went to the Supreme Court of the United States, where it was struck down. Because the decision made by the Supreme Court, all anti-sodomy laws in the United States are considered unconstitutional and unenforceable. There are still States that have anti-sodomy laws in place, in 2014 Louisiana House of Representatives voted 67-27 to retain its unconstitutional law, police are still known to run same-sex sting operations and arrest citizens, although every case is dropped because States cannot enforce unconstitutional laws.

The first gay pride parade in 1970 was known as Christopher Street Liberation Day March, it was meant to be a one-time commemoration of the Stonewall Riots. they might have not imagined that their effort will began to change the minds of many people 48 years later.

Discriminating against prospective LGBTQ foster parents limits the pool of available resources and harms children, who may be placed in foster homes far from their families, separated from their siblings, or assigned to group homes. Catholic Social Services claims that if it chooses to close its doors rather than serve LGBTQ couples, there won’t be enough agencies to recruit foster families for children. This claim has no basis in reality. Other states, such as Massachusetts and Illinois, have found that after requiring child welfare agencies to accept all qualified families — including same-sex couples — there were plenty of agencies available to take on the work of those agencies that dropped out.”

Connecticut's child welfare agency has launched an initiative to actively recruit LGBT people to become foster and adoptive parents.
“Connecticut’s child welfare agency has launched an initiative to actively recruit members of the state’s LGBT community to become foster and adoptive parents, bucking recent efforts in some states to curtail gay adoptions.”
Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Thursday that Connecticut wants to be known as a state that welcomes and embraces the LGBT community, especially considering there are 4,300 children in state care and about half of them likely won’t return to their biological families.
“We just have to get this word out,” Malloy said. “We have to get more of our children placed with our families in our state.”

“The Church of Scotland has moved a step closer to allowing ministers to perform same-sex weddings “if they wish”.
The Rev Bryan Kerr’s motion called for a draft of new laws to give ministers the option, nearly a year after the Scottish Episcopal Church voted to let gay couples get married in church.
The motion as amended was passed 345 to 170 at the general assembly in Edinburgh.
