Madi had asked Clarke, when she was younger, what had happened to the other Nightbloods, why they were the only ones left. Clarke had told her what happened, how the Nightblood from Azgeda, Ontari, had killed them all in their sleep, Aden included. She didn’t understand how someone could do something so ruthless, how she didn’t have the honor to fight them all, face to face in the conclave, like it was supposed to be. Clarke told her many stories, about Lexa, about all of her friends. And what she didn’t tell, Madi got to see through Lexa’s memories. “I have only gotten here now, I don’t know how it is possible, for me to be here.”
It wasn’t just the fact that the last thing she remembers was her being younger than what she looks now, she also remembers very well being put to sleep by Clarke, on that machine. They were supposed to wake up again on that ship, instead, Madi wakes up on a beach, alone. “I do.” She paused, titling her head to the side. “It’s funny, you have the same posture that she did.” She was referring to Lexa, of course. “I’ve seen you, on Lexa’s memories. I was given the flame by the fleimkepa Gaia. I was the only Natblida left.” She said with a frown, looking down at the ground. Her people were counting on her to lead them, how could she do that from here?
Madi nodded her head. “It happened again. Clarke explained it to me, the nuclear stations all blew up, the whole world was destroyed once again. The Shallow Valley was the only piece of green land that remained. Me and Clarke, we lived there for a few years, while we waited for the others. Some found refuge on a bunker, others went back to the sky, Bellamy and some other members of Skaikru.” She sighed and shook her head. “No … I don’t know any others, Clarke told me I was the only one left, after what Ontari did to you and the other Nightbloods.”
Aden shook his head, he listened when she spoke but he was also trying to work things out as well, “I have been here for longer.” He simply stated, truth be told - he had lost count on how long - it had been at least a few months though if he were to try and work it out, “I still do not know how I ended up here, I just...woke up here.” His hand rubbed his neck, the scar there standing out as he swallowed. He didn’t recall how he got it, just that it was there now.
His eyes stared at her when she spoke again, a small frown forming as his shoulders tensed, “You...” he started before shaking his head, his eyes watering but he would not cry. He did remember Lexa.. he remembered her spirit had left her body, passing on - he remembered saying his goodbyes after the other Natblida had gone to bed for the night. It was one of the last things he remembered before he had woken up here. “Leksa’s spirit passed on to you.” He stated, putting the pieces together - he didn’t look her in the eye though, a sadness on his face that he struggled to hide.
Still, her story was... interesting, although he struggled to understand it fully. Without proof it was just her word, but the way she spoke of Clarke - it made him feel a little better. He could tell she cared about the Sky girl he had sworn to look out for. But then - that name. “Ontari.” The name left his mouth, seeming a little shaky as his gaze freezes, his body now firmly tense, “She.. She did something. I.. I can’t remember what - but.. she was there - before I came here. I..there is something - she - she did something to them.” His voice wavered, for the first time since he was a small child - he was shaken and there was a feeling he couldn’t shake - he wasn’t remembering something.
