The worst feeling in the world is watching someone in pain and not being able to do a single thing about it. Gen could just stand there and do nothing else in return. What was worse is that Gen couldn’t hear the ragged sounds that escaped the stranger’s lips. He couldn’t hear a thing. It was downright frightening, but those facial expressions. The pained and tortured ones he was making. It was enough to make the ravenette cry, but he managed to hold back his emotions and tears. He had to help or at least show he was there for the stranger, right, even if they both didn’t know each other?
Genji was glad he had found the medication in time. Did this guy have to deal with this on a regular basis? Maybe he had forgotten to take his pills that morning? Maybe he was rushing because he was late for something? Did something this important slip the stranger’s mind? So many questions were running through Gen’s head and he had no answer for them, since he didn’t have time to actually answer them. Right now he was turning into a nurse, checking the other over and making sure he was okay.
He watched the other swallow the pills with a lot of trouble. If his mind wasn’t in a frenzy right now, he would have realized sooner that he had a bottle of water in his messenger bag. Whatever the stranger’s reason was for not taking those pills earlier, he was just glad that he managed to get the guy to take them now. He was lucky too. What if Gen had decided to take a different route? He wouldn’t have been here and this guy might have died. Died. That wasn’t a good thing to think, but right now, Genji was just glad that this guy was safe and still breathing.
Genji watched the stranger for a moment before rummaging through his bag for the bottle of water. Once finding it, he removed the cap and showed it to the stranger. Could he drink it on his own? He wasn’t too sure, but at least it would be good to let him try. Gen still couldn’t understand what he was saying, due to the fact that his mouth wasn’t moving too well with his words, so he only sat there in confusion.
⁽⁽ ✬ ₎₎ As Daniel's world became filled with less agony and more comprehension, he started to try and take in more of the man before him, his 'saving grace' as it was. He took in the other's face first, silently wondering why he looked so...confused, as if not really knowing what was going on. Dreary blue eyes caught movement and then fell heavily to the water bottle presented to him, staring dumbly at its clear contents before it finally clicked. He was offering Daniel something to drink, now suddenly starkly aware of how dry and stale-tasting his mouth was. God, a water bottle never looked so heavenly to him in all his life.
Swallowing dryly, Daniel cracked a small smile, totally and utterly grateful to this stranger in more ways than one. "Thanks..." Wiping at the blood on his lips and chin, Daniel gently took the bottle, gaining only enough strength in that one hand to hold it securely. Tilting his head back, the blonde pressed its round opening to his lips and drank in slow, dragging sips, trying his best not to gulp down too quickly and risk choking. Seconds passed before Daniel broke away for air, sighing in exhaustion; his body sagged a bit more into the wall. He stared at the man once more, trying to decipher such an expression. Wait, could he, perhaps, not speak? No, no, that's not the case-he'd heard his voice from before. So...
Blinking slowly, Daniel placed the water bottle down, a single hand coming up just long enough to form out the sign language term for 'thank you'. An experiment on his part, really...
