the reason that little "feminine" costumes look "silly" on men isn't just because of toxic masculinity, homophobia, the usual suspects-- while these phenomena certainly affect gnc men in general, let's not kid ourselves. the reason that we laugh when a man wears boob-plate armor, lipstick and a miniskirt, is because it looks silly on women too. it's a huge aspect of culturally constructed "femininity" for women to look childish, impractical, and oversexed. it helps with the dehumanization that churns the patriarchy. this isn't "fear of the feminine" or whatever nonsense, and it's insulting to imply that looking like a strung-up doll has anything to do with being a woman.

the conservative, religious idea that a prostitute is a sexually deviant harlot who sells her body because she loves to sin and the liberal “sex positive” idea that a prostitute is a sexually empowered woman who sells her body because she loves to fuck are the same idea.

they both place the blame on the prostituted woman, they both ignore the existence of pimps and johns, and they both paint a picture of a mythological woman who simply does not exist.

neither considers that the woman is a victim, that she is being raped, and that the men who exploit her are to be blamed.
