That gets a laugh out of him - an ugly bark of a thing, trailing off into a hiss as he unthinkingly clenches his hand.

"I already can't see. What else would I have to give up, do you think?" Well. The loss of his eyesight is just the tip of the iceberg, isn't it, but Flynn knows now's not the time, or the place - not to mention, she's a total stranger. "But, um, maybe yeah. Is there anywhere around here you think would?" Flynn doesn't want to just assume that she's offering to clean him up or anything.

still a stranger. → LAUGHTER FROM A STRANGER MAKES HER UNCOMFORTABLE. Not that he knows that, but it can be tricky to tell if whether his laughter is meant to be out of malice or something else. It's hard to say. It's not like he's said much about himself to begin with.

Aside from his blindness, of course. That does explain why he's not shying away from her- most times, her presence alone is enough to unsettle people. Madness has a way of warding people off, whether out of fear of breaking something like porcelain or of getting infected.

"Your voice," Annie says finally though, casually too, as if she's already done it herself. "Maybe your sense of touch too. It'd be obsolete if you could echoate from distance, already." Wispy hands brush against bruised knuckles. "I can treat them. If you're okay with someone mad doing that."

miss choi. → WHOEVER NELL BECOMES FRIENDS WITH IS NONE OF HIS BUSINESS TRULY. If anything, it relieves him, seeing her form bonds, close ones too, with someone other than him or Alfred.

She never asked to be pulled into this lifestyle. She might say that at this point she's already too deep in, but no one smart, compassionate, or well-adjusted would choose this double act. That, and Nell is... she's the best of all three of them. The weight of the past still rests heavy on her shoulders, but that doesn't mean she can't still live her life.

This lifestyle doesn't reward that kind of mindset. If anything, it might only make the past, the thought of such, curdle.

Myungdae wonders if Miss Choi, a woman with no past, no history apparently, thinks that too. Sees how aside from Miss Choi herself, Nell spends almost all her time with exclusively Alfred and Myungdae. Thinks that Nell would deserve better.

"I would think what you said speaks for itself," Myungdae says finally, diplomatically. Even if Nell is close to her, that does not mean Myungdae will let his guard down; diplomacy is merely his shield.

Holding his bruised and battered face with scarred, shaking hands and doing her best to clean away dirt and dried blood from the teenagers face. Sakura is barely holding back tears while her brother tries and fails to keep it together himself.

"What were you thinking? Getting into a fight. A broken nose Aman."

Looking over his other injuries and torn clothes, a small noise leaves her. A barely held in sob, and that is all it takes for the boy to crumble- his arms folding around her and holding her still. With a wince, he hides his face in her apron which she is still wearing from rushing over straight from work. His shoulders shaking subtly as she holds him back. Her hands moving to rub gentle circles into his back as he mutters broken apologies.

For a long time, the siblings just hold one another, and it isn't until there is a clearing of someone's throat that she looks up.

Regaining her composure quickly, she clears away her tears with heel of her hand.

"I'm Sakura. His guardian. How soon can I take my brother home?"

community. → LIFE IS HARD, YOU DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET BY. Even if his mother and sister were still alive, Alfred knows he'd still be thinking that way. The very neighborhood Rook's Roost stands in not much different from the one he grew up in. It's one filled with a cacophony of individuals from honest, hard-working people with families to feed to those whom life chooses to smite on simply because it can. Either way, both will be down-trodden and often than not down on their luck.

(And isn't that why Rook's Roost stands in the first place?)

He supposes those two are not much different from that. The boy is soft though, Alfred can't help but note and from the way his sister scolds him for getting into one fight, he's probably not as familiar with the streets, the darker corners of part of the city. Maybe in a kinder world, Alfred might have stayed the same way.

He raises his hand in acquiesce. "I'm not here to shoo you out if that's what you're wondering." Granted, closing time has already long since past, but they don't need to know that. That and he's got a free night for once. "He'll need to get the bandage changed in a few days. Try to keep yer nose upright when you can too." Casually, he grabs a mug from behind the bar. "You two want something to eat- it'll make the pain easier to deal with."
