HIATUS
She ran on a playbook that was familiar to the both of them, yet he still felt the effect of her touch on his psyche. Will closed his eyes. “I understand, Clarice.” His hand dipped so their fingers could intertwine. “Don’t think that I wouldn’t understand.”
There was a bitter smile that came out more like a grimace.
“Whoever said that you’d be alone?”
She laced her fingers with his and brushed the pad of her thumb along his rough knuckles. A faint smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. “Others have come to you for insight... I know what it costs you, and I...”
Her other hand lifted, tracing the veins on the inside of his wrist. “I’ll understand if that’s not a price you can pay right now. It’s enough just to know you’re here with me.”

“This is the power that the humans feared.”
There is blood on her hands. The only light comes from the glow of flames behind her; it dances across the dark form twisted and broken before her surrounded by blood. The same blood that drips from her unsteady fingers. Hannibal’s voice is against her ear, his breath hot on her skin. It isn’t her first time. After all, she holds the record (the official Guinness Book record) for killing. She is the Angel of Death. And yet her knees are giving out. Her hands are shaking. There is blood everywhere. On her hands and sprinkled across her brow like a baptism. And, yes, in the midst of it all there is a calm sense of power. It makes her ill.
“No...”
Bryce Dallas Howard in Pete’s Dragon (2016).
Presents screaming baby and runs away. "It's yours!"
There is a sharp intake of breath as hands quickly move to cradle the screaming child. The baby is pressed to her chest protectively while eyes lift to watch the stranger flee. Lips part, but the protestations die the moment her eyes meet the glistening eyes of the little bundle in her arms.
She always wanted a child. Lips turn up into a smile. "It's alright, honey." Her accent begins to flavor her words, but she hardly notices. "Shh... it's okay. We'll figure this out, won't we?"
