Here’s another etsy order! Same as the last one, but this is going to be given as a gift for a nursery, so the buyer wanted me to add “little darlin’” on the bottom and to not underline the “the”. Otherwise, it’s the exact same as the last one. Sorry I forgot to take any more progress pictures than this!

Hello! 

Here’s my latest piece, commissioned via my etsy! I was very excited to make this because a new project was exactly what I needed during quarantine. I think I watched the entirety of Tiger King just while filling in all the yellow 😂. Since it was a gift, I couldn’t post progress updates before the customer had received it in the mail, which is why this is one big update. 

On to the details: I used 2 ply DMC 310 in stem stitch for all of the black outlines and lettering. The yellow is 2 ply DMC 444 long and short stitch, and the red  (DMC 817) and orange (unknown) are both stem stitch. The customer requested I finish the back of the 5″ hoop and add the string on top so they can hang it on the wall. The pattern was drawn by Anna Rosenthal.

Why is everything handmade with love? I want things handmade from spite: the skill you learned from your horrible estranged mother and you now have made your own. I want things handmade from staying up till 3 am watching a horror movie and frantically knitting to quell the sense of dread. Give me something handmade with horniness. I want one of the 20 ceramic bowls you practiced making at home so you could seduce your crush in pottery class sell me that. Sell me something handmade out of pettiness, quilted from your exes sweaters. I want something handmade with caffeine withdrawal anxiety and something handmade out of necessity like the sword you forged to survive the harsh winter when you got lost in the forest and you had to hunt to survive, but you made it through so now you can sell it on etsy. Interestingly, this was historically a thing!

Forgive me if I get details wrong, I’m going from memory, but in the Viking era, (and later???) it was considered bad luck to spin yarn counterclockwise.

So women deliberately spun counterclockwise and wove a shirt for their enemies!

Day 95

4.5.19 - Decided to have a lazy Friday after work and I just watched American Gods and finished my embroidery! This is definitely my favorite one so far. Tuskandtwine has so many amazing kits I wish I could get all of them. Someday when I (hopefully) have my own counseling office, this ones going on the wall. And my mom called me to let me know that 30 years ago today she found out she was pregnant with me awww. But also I can’t believe I’m gonna be 30 this year wahh.
