gonna make this real simple. hi, i'm rena, full-time college student, 21+. general tldr: don't be a dick, just have fun, and keep the space drama-free !

𝗢𝗡𝗘: standard stuff. no godmodding, no drama, and i typically only interact with mutuals because of my already low activity. i don’t see myself following first pretty often, but that doesn’t mean i won’t follow back! shoot me an ask or something.

ophelia's hands pause from their rummaging amongst her closet, her visage perplexed for a fleeting second as she looks up at agata, almost like she's befuddled at the very statement agata's uttering— and then remembers it's agata, and her expression melds into something honey sweet.

"you're not giving yourself enough credit." she answers gently, pulling out another blouse from the depths of her closet to hold up against agata's smaller frame, measuring shoulder to shoulder. that blouse gets thrown aside into the pile with colors she's decided won't compliment agata's skin. "we're just making sure you dress yourself a little better, is all."

her hand reaches for another dress that cascades to agata's ankles, its soft material the night sky's dark blue. "how's this? i think you'll look lovely in it."

There's blood everywhere.

Blood all over her face, all over her dress, a mess of half-dried and still-wet crimson. Pieces of cut flesh tangled in her black hair. A sword she stole from some guard that slips from her hand with a shaky, ominous clang. There's a person— no, no, not a person anymore, a body— laying splayed out in front of her, his wounds still sputtering out more red all over polished floors. One of many in that room.

Kallian's already sitting limply on the floor before she could notice it. She could hear Soris faintly calling her name in the midst of all the deafening white noise, but her brown eyes are trained on Nelaros' body on the floor.

They were supposed to get married. She hadn't bothered to get to know him — figured it changes nothing regardless of who she marries as long as she gives birth to two or three, and then she could live out the rest of her sorry life a rat amongst other rats. Ignored that tug in her heart when he said— what was it, he said, he'd spend his life learning to make her happy.

There's a trail of bodies left behind where Kallian marched past since she got out of captivity, trying to swallow the bile rising in her throat every time she cuts another down, and still nothing feels worse than this. Her head feels queasy with the stench of blood.

She holds Nelaros' limp hand in both of her own, shaky, pressing her dry cracked lips to his cold knuckles, to the stained wedding ring on his finger. She's not sure if there's tears on her face or not. She's far from dying in a pool of her own blood in some fancy estate, and yet it feels like she is anyway. It's an unsightly scene for a wedding — a bloodstained bride, her once white dress in tatters with her unfortunate groom, a union realized in death far before it could in life.

"Kallian," Soris repeats lightly, and Kallian swears she could have torn into him with her sword. "There's no time. We have to go." Leave Nelaros here.

Kallian's wide eyes are devoid of hope. "They'll kill us, Soris. There's nothing we can do."

"We can't just sit here and wait to be killed!"

Kallian bites back the I can sitting in her throat.

Bruce fought the urge to roll his eyes. Instead, he just pinches the bridge of his nose before huffing out a word. "That's not what I mean. You're over reaching when you throw. You're going to cause long term issues with your shoulder if you keep doing it. The moment you feel a pull in your arm, you let go. Let your fingertips guide the batarang. Don't force it."

admittedly, steph's a bit disgruntled. annoyed, even. hells, tim always makes it look so damn easy! it's just a batarang! it shouldn't be this hard! "so how long did it take tim to throw it right?" her hand reaches to pick up another batarang, shoulder rolled to shake the stiffness out of it. "just got it first try? second try? talented robin and all?"

"you actually gonna use it this time?" Rani's words aren't accusatory so much as barely hiding an eyeroll. fingers flip down a top flap, exposing the best-by date on the next thing in her hands. nearly 10 months ago.

"you know, the best-by date's only a suggestion, but pretty sure these are rancid." there was no 'pretty sure' about it. if she opened the bag ( and she was so so tempted to do so ), the smell alone would confirm it with no additional help.

and it wasn't as if the flour had... exactly... gone bad. bugs skitter in the bottom of the bag Aiden found himself fluffing. "most people don't want to eat bugs in their flour, Aiden."

another grunt. not sure if positive or negative, merely acknowledgement. he's not arguing with rani here, to his credit. not when it's not the first time she's helped cleaned his pantry, even more so not when she's also his girlfriend, and especially not when she's making sense.

and she usually does make sense.

doesn't help the pinprick of embarrassment creeping up his spine though, like he's 5 and caught red-handed with his hand in the jar of cookies. he's not exactly a fan of being caught underperforming most days. the tips of his ears are running a bit hot. "work hasn't been helping." lame excuse, aiden. not what he wanted to say either. try again. "sorry. and thanks. for helping with all this." said a bit quieter ( and a bit more lamely ) than his earlier words, but audible nonetheless.

"you don't." she couldn't. no matter how much the other woman might keep striving to know, there was no way she could. it was something that had been built into her bones since before she could walk, since before memory formed.

she was grounded, shaped in her own people's traditions, able to speak the language of her ancestors, to be able to slip into life as only a mirialan should she give it effort. Shamara does not wish to offer that effort. she is was a Jedi. that is all she has ever been.

she seems almost to stare through Alex, barely noting the metal hand's coolness dancing up bare thigh, ignoring the way it settles at her hip.

"wishing won't make it happen." won't bring back an entire Order of people who had been home and comfort and hands willing to catch people before they plummeted off heights.

( she thinks she's still falling, even now, tumbling without so much as a stray branch to slow it )

"don't pretend like it might." Alex doesn't deserve her ire. Alex receives it anyway, as the one person Shamara even knew would retain her secrets even in the face of the Empire.

alex is what you would typically call a patient person. patient enough to lay low and wait for a chance to escape in the midst of war and bloodshed following the steps of the jedi purge. patient enough that she's waiting here, alongside shamara, always a distance away in spite of their skin contact, her constant presence better proof of her loyalty than any confession of love could offer.

what she's not patient enough with, though, is the thought that shamara may never move on.

it's not a thought she voices, even with the words just barely hanging on the tip of her tongue. she can't just say just move on, not like that. so she waits here, patiently as she could, taking every ounce of shamara's pain and grief and ire, if only because she has no one else in this damn galaxy who would unquestionably be on her side anymore. some half-assed replacement for what shamara had.

( alex decides it's better she ignores that dull pang in her chest. )

"you can tell me." she croaks. her metal hand gently squeezes the mirialan's hip. "about the jedi. what they were like." a pause. "what your life was like."

how bad is is it? Rani gestures at the expanse of scattered pantry items, separated from anything still fully sealed and unopened, save for paper flour sacks. "you tell me."

a grimace crosses her face in return as she reaches past Aiden to deposit another, half-used bag of all-purpose flour into the trash bag sitting on the countertop. "I don't know how you missed any of this before it got like this." which. pot calling kettle black, maybe, but she was built like her father, always catching things that were out of the ordinary. things that didn't add up.

there's a million reasons that flew by in the second aiden stops to think about how his pantry got to... this state. none of which adequate. he chooses, instead, to answer with a non-committal grunt. "i'd planned to have a look at it." the important part is the planned. past tense. and for someone like him, stuck between all these half-projects and would-have-beens and the actual, important work, something inevitably ought to be missed.

lord. it smells like a fire hazard in here.

he turns his heel to pick up the trash bag, shuffling to make sure all the bags of flour settle nicely inside instead of threatening to tumble all over his floor. god forbid it's already a coat of it as is. "i'm going to have to make another trip to the groceries tomorrow." he's not exactly happy about all his nice flour having gone bad. he was gonna make his next batch of cookies with those!

she wasn't sure what happened. one moment she's leaping between rooftops tailing a robbery in progress, the next she was face down on cold concrete.

writhing in pain. unbelievable pain.

she knows the city too well to have made a mistake, it was muscle memory. she knows the routes by heart, the math to navigate by grapnel without careening into buildings. and yet somehow her foot slipped?

something was wrong.

her leg was broken, that was obvious to her. she was unable to stand, but it was more than just her femur. a duller pain on the opposite side, her hip.

a flare up of an older injury? something else?

regardless, she needed help getting home. before someone who wasn't on her side found her laying in a back alley in full bat suit. Kate struggled for her distress signal ping. she had no idea who would come, only that someone would soon.

it's not often myra gets to be out on patrol on her own. not because of her age—already making laps atop gotham's highest buildings as is even though she's barely past 13—but because of her supposedly reckless manner of getting into the strangest situations. today's different, if only because she'd sworn to stay safe, and her parents apparently have urgent matters to attend to.

so, here she is, swinging from one building to another. staying safe, y'know, as she promised.

she catches sight of batwoman long before the signal's sounds reaches her ears, only tearing away for a second to make sure her grappling hook grabs the right place. then, one more swing, a flip, and she's landed with a roll on the ground safely. perfect. no notes.

"gram— batwoman?" almost bit her tongue there. gotta be careful with the codenames. "are you okay? what happened?" she's already crouched down next to her, lips pressed thin. her concern's palpable.

Sharrah's irritation nigh on evaporates faster than water flicked into the campfire. the very suggestion was — well. absurd. she blinks, stunned into momentary silence. what kind of—

finally, the dalish elf sighs, willing herself not to think about whatever hell the city must be, pinches the bridge of her nose. "no, Kallian. they'll not do anything of the sort." she could hazard a guess as to how close to that line Zevran may get in jest, and that guess was still leagues away from Kallian's apparent fear for it.

not good with humans, the other elf professes, and not for the first time since they've set out, Sharrah wonders why Kallian chooses to cling tighter than a fledgling to the one elf that was distinctly not one of her own kin. perhaps it was simply the familiarity. what little of it there was.

yet if Kallian turned heel right now and ran, there was little of her that would be missed — her skill with a blade left much to be desired, evidenced well enough by the other woman's request for help.

the fact she remained. was that fear or was that what Duncan had seen at the core?

kallian blinks, tense, heart skipping a beat as if waiting for the yeah, they will, because that's all her life amounts to, some wilting thing only expecting to be fully extinguished the next time she runs into some trivial matter. instead, there isn't, and— and, well, instead sharrah's telling her she has a chance to talk. the city elf could hardly think of a reason for her to lie.

she lets out the breathe she didn't realize she was holding.

"i— i am grateful." she murmurs, finally allowing herself to sit on her knees on the ground. stiff regardless, but remarkably less anxious. "i would like to be of some use to your— our quest, long as you have the patience ..."

her hands are still bunching on the remnants of her wedding dress. as much as she wants to run away, she still owes duncan a life debt. and even with that not accounted for, she has to think for her father at home, holed away from the rest of the world within four flimsy walls and no real knowledge of the danger encroaching upon them. "i still have someone i need to protect."

Blue light flickers from her hands momentarily, flashing sharp heat through the pantry, haloing the shape of her body from the other side. "You know you had an infestation, right?"

Half-used paper pouches of flour slouch on the countertop, sitting in the middle of a plastic garbage bag. A paper bag of cornmeal swiftly joins it. The rest of the contents of Aiden's pantry was scattered about the kitchen floor, and any dry goods clearly sitting in some sort of purgatory.

"When was the last time you checked any of this?"

he feels like he's going to have a fucking headache. or an aneurysm. somewhere between both. the whole area around his pantry looks vaguely like it's been blurred by particles of flour just hovering about, disturbed by rani's shuffling.

aiden decides it's better to stop looking and start cleaning, either way—half-damp towel hanging loosely on his shoulder tossed unceremoniously onto the couch nearby before shuffling over to grab the two containers of sugar nearest on the floor, moves them out of the way before either of them accidentally kicks something. "long enough that there's an infestation, apparently." a grimace crosses his face. he takes a peek into the pantry through rani's shoulder. "how bad is it?"
