Bc I’m sorry but JKR doesn’t have it down that’s not how we roll as a nation

it’s not… one big giant school… absolutely not…. we’d tear each other apart…. dear god………

also that’s too many students for one school even if it’s only like 5% of the country is magical most of them will be students bc 12-18 year olds is one of the largest demographics so that’d be at the very least over a million students so yeah no

no houses too??? that’s definitely a british thing there’s no houses in america

there’s boarding schools on the east coast but not on the west

schooling starts a lot earlier than in britain but they mostly start off with easy nonmagical stuff and get to actual real magic stuff when they’re about 11 just like england

bigfoot is a creature of one of the schools in the pacific northwest that accidentally escaped and no one seems to know how to track him down

they keep schools mostly in nature like in forests and stuff but the southwest puts them in ghost towns and one of the arizona ones is in area 51 and schools with access to the ocean utilize that

the schools focus a lot more on teaching about magical creatures and muggle-wizard relations and potions bc the cryptids (big foot, jersey devil, etc.) are all real and wizards work with the president to keep things calm and there’s a lot of natural materials available in america for making potions

the wizards blend in more with society like they use pens and pencils and computers and muggle clothes and stuff and schools emphasis the need to use nonverbal magic and potions instead of visible stuff

a lot of magic is influenced by native american magic but some schools still favor british magic for absolutely no reason whatsoever (the effectiveness is exactly the same just different process/words) bc racism still exists in america

oh yeah there isn’t blood purity bullshit bc the wizards actually make an effort to blend in with muggles and therefore have more children with muggles but racism is still A Thing simply because they’re so close to muggle culture

the southwest (and the west in general) tends to use a lot more native american magic whereas new england tends to use british magic

the south is very much on the fence about it like it depends on where you live and what your instructor prefers

there’s very few purebloods like most people are either muggle borns, half-bloods, or they don’t fucking know bc who’s keeping track anymore

some schools will teach magic from different cultures bc they have teachers whose magic practice was passed down from families in different countries
