I started using this sideblog to yap about Worm because I was keeping it secret from my girlfriend who's really into it. Don't ask my why I did that, I have psychological issues.

Walter White/Heisenberg: after decades of trying to solve a problem with a tangential chemistry flavour, capped with getting a cancer that requires chemotherapy, Walter does get the chemical-based Tinker 6 power that he dreamed of. However, as the actual problem he was trying to solve was a contradiction between cultural individualism/toxically masculine self sufficiency vs being repeatedly put in positions of pity and community reliance, his power forces him to rely on others in order to get results. In order to enter a tinker fugue state he's forced to surrender to the help of another pair of hands- hands that seemingly always end up clumsier and stupider than he'd like. This reliance on another collaborator and the intensified frustrations with both himself and his lab partner after every tinkering session has lead some to argue he should have a 0 or -1 master rating.

Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill: Lightning Blaster 4-7 as previously established by other researchers. Very possibly a cauldron cape as he has little enough shard influence to avoid using his powers completely.

From Insinuation 2.9. This definitely brings a lot of Taylor's later cockroach doggedness into context, although it doesn't answer the question of whether it's a part of her powers, or if she just has a really high pain tolerance and has never been in a position to know that. Perhaps a combination of the two?

Personally I feel like Taylor views her body a lot like she does the rest of her swarm. She’s just another bug, a bigger and more important bug, like a queen ant, but still part of everything else. Her pain gets compartmentalized like all the other bugs. She looks at it from an analytic perspective. It’s “there was a puncture where it looked like a fang had buried itself deep” and not “fuck fuck fuck ow oh my god my fucking arm.” She doesn’t have the same internal understanding, because she’s human and not bug. But maybe that lack of interoception is what lets her shrug stuff like this off.

Not sure how far you’ve gotten so I’ll put s minor spoiler warning and avoid specifics.

There’s something later on that has both bug parts and some human bits, and she can sense and control the bug parts but the human bits seem like a black void. I think she sees her own body that way. A piloted shell with a black internal void that doesn’t respond to her.

Third day as a costumed cape: gets in a shouting match with a major hero and resolves to Commit Crime Harder to prove him wrong

It doesn’t help that Taylor’s narrative foil is literally named Foil and is a lesbian. Wildbow’s writing makes me want to tear my hair out.
