@qwasey's Jennifer Malloy aka Hole-in-one. Her power in qwaser's own words: Gives HIO the power to "mark" objects in her mind, being able to keep track of their position in comparison to each other perfectly within a wide radius. She gains an instinctive knowledge on angles as they relate to her objects, as well as how best to make two marked objects collide.
Don't know much about her yet (following qwasers' steps and doing a massive lore back-read), but she's a jaded veteran hero that does what's right even if she lacks any enthusiasm
etherealDesign's Juniper Summers aka Impact, Protecorate leader, worries about fucking up constantly.(Not happy with how her costume looks, will try drawing her for a third time) Ether's description of her power:
a) Generates a field in the microscopic area immediately surrounding the host's body (and body suit, in a similar fashion to FO’s forcefield) that generates friction. All incoming kinetic energy over a threshhold that would be harmful to the host's body (i.e. a runaway train) experiences instantaneous friction until all harmful kinetic energy is lost and transferred instantaneously into heat. This field (and therefore the host's body) can never be warmer than 98.6 degrees F.
b) All heat over this cap is banked in an internal 'battery' managed by the shard, which can be accessed by the host to turn it back into kinetic energy as a striker power, projecting kinetic energy at the space just outside of this heat shield so that the kinetic energy isn't immediately re-absorbed.
c) power’s battery is drained by the cold, as it attempts to keep the host’s body exactly at human body temperature

@the-anemia's Elizabeth 'Liz' Holden aka Sibyl. A stranger with the ability to read others body language and social cues, allowing her to predict their movements, and the ability to disrupt others' ability to do the same. Her mom's a literal zizbomb, or was, rather. She's afraid of black cats. I really like her; strangers are my favorite type of cape.
@lemurlord's Kayleigh Ernst aka The Villain Never Known As Avante G-rd aka TVNKAAG (La Tunca, pa' los amiguis). Her power in Lemur's own words :TVNKAAG continuously produces a rainbow-colored paint-like liquid from her fingertips. Any object or creature covered by it will be imbued with a Stranger effect - any person observing it either directly or through a digital recording will perceive it as having any properties they can imagine, except the ones actually belonging to the object. The effect is cumulative - if an observer first thinks the object was a toaster and then a monkey, the effect will force both ideas into the observer’s sensorium.
Stranger, so I automatically like her, Annoying post-modernist art student with a Birdcage order. Thinks of her crimes as performance art. Love her.

Her power lets her sync the heart of someone she can see with hers and then force both organs to do whatever she wants. So she can give you a heart attack as long as she gives herself one too! She's also trans and a teenage mom!

I know that, as Americans, we live awash in a sea of anti-China propaganda and as such a lot of us on the left want to course correct and cut through the lies to stop seeing China as some great evil, and that is definitely a good instinct and desire, but in the process of unfucking ourselves from US propaganda it's important to not then immediately walk into supporting Chinese propaganda. I feel like I've seen more and more folks in my communities jump on the rather concerning trend of uncritically accepting Chinese news and the word of the Chinese government as the antithesis of Americas lies about the country, but the truth is that both the US and China are massive imperialist nations with major skeletons in the closet, whom have committed atrocities to attain and sustain their power, and who continue to exert their influence on the global stage in pursuit of their own ends, and who are constantly attempting to shape narratives about their own countries, their governments actions, and the world at large. Please apply the same critical thinking skills, skepticism, and standards you would hold US news to when talking about other large and influential nations, China very much included.
The fastest way to accomplish The Project is to cease being afraid of The Project. The Project cannot maim you. The Project cannot kill you. The Project is more afraid of you than you are of it. It is okay if The Project turns out differently from how it was in your head, and it is okay if it has flaws. You are capable of engaging with The Project.
My friend the @thesternest wanted me to share my thoughts on Anthology of The Killer: Flesh of The Killer. As such, they are below. Spoilers, et cetera.
The theme of puritanism and correctness within art in Flesh is very unsubtle, but is approached from a somewhat unusual angle: "Are you sure your morals are just propaganda?", and it is exemplified through the three sequential art installations that we get:
- "Wash Your Hands": an extremely banal truth that is frankly too obvious to have like a dozen pieces dedicated to it and have them say anything of worth. But the pieces are still there, and the elevation of this banality, to me, seems to be a propaganda tactic to give the other two "morals" validity, equating them to this. Notably, we don't get a painting-world for this.
- "Strangers": paranoia of the external, mistrust of the fellow man, conquest through social division. It is the love of the "stranger danger". In the painting-world, this is refuted - the strangers are indifferent to BB. They simply lead their own lives.
- "Elephant": maintain pure "moral" soul or be crushed to death by Go-, I mean the Elephant. Paranoia of the internal, the mind-rotting desire for purity. Extremely notably, this is both the first painting-world encountered, *and* the Elephant is the only other hostile entity in the museum besides the Lion. It also just also looks way scarier than the Lion.
And there's, of course the more obvious bit with the morality machines just being torture devices from the "academics" from Hands - wo are then revealed to be one of the patrons of the entire operation.
But, Lemur, you might ask, what about the fact that the museum is a vault that requires an entire heist for a normal person to get inside? That is a part that probably took me some time to figure out, because of how incongruous it was with the above. But I think I managed to connect it too.
Fundamentally, I think the rich got too high on their own supply. In society where "moral" is a desired virtue, that virtue will be desired by everyone. And so they purchased and hoarded all these art pieces to signal the virtue to everyone around them, and put them in a vault because that's what you do with your expensive stuff. But the problem is that it is nothing. The morals are bullshit, invented for populus control. And the buyers themselves don't even comprehend them, they look at them like the "organic" labels on store sanwiches! The substance is not relevant, only the signal of the presence is what matters. This is how Lion is defeated - with illusions and distractions.
can i kick the hornet’s nest. i could not give less of a shit if someone headcanons, or writes fic about, or draws fanart of, etc. a trans character as trans in a different way than they canonically are. in the same way thay i could not give less of a shit if someone writes a queer character as queer in a different way than in canon. for one, genderbending is a staple of fanfic already, it’d be weird to exclude trans characters from that, even if benevolently meant. and for two, literally nothing any fanwork can do can change the source material. they will still be trans in canon in that particular way. so who cares. go hogwild.
i keep seeing posts that go like “guys remember to be nice no matter if someone headcanons this cis character as a trans man, trans woman, or nonbinary. (IF SOMEONE CHANGES A TRANS CHARACTERS GENDER LIKE THIS, IT’S TRANSPHOBIC, KILL THEM)” and it’s like. i don’t think that’s true, actually. i think people have as much a right to explore ‘what if this trans guy was a trans girl in this AU’ as they do exploring how a cis man being a cis woman would change their experiences in a genderbend AU. we are not so fundamentally different that to flip genders around erases what the character originally is, it just opens up new paths of exploration for how they interact with their world. come play in the sandbox with me instead of getting mad at each other.
