Yelena Belova has returned to the MCU in an all new chest-grabbing episode of Hawkeye!!!!
In today’s incredibly thrilling and shaking episode of Hawkeye, as promised, Florence Pugh made an amazing reprisal as our new Black Widow, Yelena Belova.
The last we saw the fan-favorite character was in the Black Widow end-credits scene where she was grieving the tragic loss of her beloved sister, and our beloved iconic heroine, Natasha Romanoff (Natasha Romanov, Natalia Romanova, etc. whatever you want to call her).
In that interesting end-credits scene, we see that Yelena has made some new acquaintances. We got the reveal that she is now working for La Contessa Valentina Allegra De Fontaine (or Val for short), played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus. In Marvel Comics, De Fontaine has been affiliated with many notable Marvel organizations. Most notably Leviathan and… you guessed it… HYDRA. Val was introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as a mysterious woman who offers to recruit John Walker, now dubbed the U.S. Agent. For what she is recruiting, we have yet to find out, but it is clear that she has gotten to Yelena. But one thing is definitely clear. Whatever she is up to, it’s not completely good.
At the end of Black Widow, Val meets Yelena Belova at Natasha’s grave to give her a bit of information: the identity of the person who allegedly killed Natasha Romanoff. Showing her a picture of none other than Clint Barton. As we know, Natasha sacrificed her life to save Clint’s and retrieve the soul stone from Vormir in Avenger’s: Endgame. But Yelena seems to believe that Clint is the cause. How she will react when she finds out the Clint is mourning just as much as she is will no doubt be heart hitting.
In this episode, Yelena shows up and attacks Clint on a rooftop in episode 4 of Hawkeye, but he has no idea who she is, believing that she is just another Black Widow assassin and assumes that someone from the Tracksuit Mafia has hired her to take him out. So much more has yet to be revealed as Hawkeye has 2 episodes left to wrap up the season. Fan theories are running wild and none of us can wait to see what happens. Hold on to your hats. The ride has just begun.
