Gaster sighed, sinking in his seat. He knew it was out of his hands yet he still considered Goliath’s damaged wings to be his burden. Knowing he was powerless was a bitter pull he swallowed frequently, yet it still stung.
“Well, it is not conclusive yet,” he said, more to himself than Goliath. Then, more truthfully, “Thank you for the gift again, Goliath… it, well, it means a lot.”
His hand reached over, cupping Goliath’s cheek. Rough skin glided beneath his palm, fingertips tracing over the battle-worn scars. After a moment Gaster blinked, realizing what he was doing, and yanked his hand back close to his chest, eyes darting to the present again.
“Well – well, uh, do you want to go out and get something to eat? Stretch your legs, perhaps run around through Waterfall since monsters rarely go there at this time.” He continued looking away.
It did bring Goliath down that he couldn’t even summon his wings, let alone use them, but it wasn’t like he could anyway. He’d been hiding in the labs ever since he got here and, the only other monster that knew of him, besides Gaster, was Sans. He still regrets spooking the skeleton. Frozen for mere moments, he softly emitted a soft, growl-like purr from his throat with the tender touch to his cheek, even closer that he was about to nuzzle into the hand....till he pulled away.
The gargoyle surely had noticed these random acts of affection, although far apart they were. If only he could tell him that it was alright to show it at times.
The mention of food and running around surely got his attention, enough so that the tip of his long tail started twitching with anticipation. “Yes, I would love to.” He was never one to say no to food or to even go to Waterfall.
