I’m actively working hard on learning to appreciate yourself no matter what. If what someone else says can easily derail you, it means your sense of self isn’t that firmly established in the first place. It’s an inside job. You’re beautiful and worthy and totally unique. People insult each other based on their own insecurities - even though it may feel personal, it really never is. Really. Seriously.

I don’t know that fashion would interest me if I wasn’t going to these events where you dress up. But I am. And designers lend you clothes for free that you wear for one night and then give back. It’s creative and fun.

Emily Jean Stone // Losing my anonymity was something that I could never really prepare myself for. I think I struggled with it for a bit because one of my favourite things is just to walk around and interact with people. It was hard to get used to not being able to do that and I sort of kept myself inside more. But now I feel like I’m coming into an adjustment period. Maybe I thought I was supposed to live up to something or be a certain way but now I don’t feel that way as much. I still think about what people think of me, of course, but I don’t feel as bogged down by it now. (insp)
