I don’t have the time to really be on tumblr at the moment. This hiatus could last months, I’m not sure. I’m not entirely away from roleplay though.I’m happy to do smaller stuff and IC chatting on Discord.

why do you not like tobirama x izuna? no judgement, just curious
There are three main reasons. The first being that it doesn’t make any sense to me. There’s no canon reason to think any emotions were shared between them and I’m not someone who ships based on aesthetics. Were it to happen in roleplay through development then maybe, but that leads us to my second point.
There is really no reason to believe that Tobirama is sexually active or sexually interested in anything or anyone at all. In fact, there’s more evidence that he isn’t. Tobirama never married and never had children while Hashirama did and went on to even have grandchildren while there was still nothing romantic or any evidence of sexual activity from Tobirama’s side. Tobirama clearly cares about and likes children, so then why didn’t he have any of his own? You could argue that maybe he is gay but there’s nothing that hints toward that either and I doubt that’s what Kishimoto was intending.
The last reason ties into the second one which is that asexual characters are wildly underrepresented in fiction and in roleplay. I find it more interesting and more suiting to him.
Small Hiatus
Hello friends! I’ve been incredibly busy with work so I can’t really dedicate time to this right now. I’m not sure how long this hiatus will last but it will run until at least next week. I may or may not be able to get a few replies out before then but no promises. Thanks for being so understanding!
❝ something for you, lord second. ❞
it is an idle thought that strikes her, as she presses the file down upon the well-scrubbed wooden surface of his desk: how does a god of shinobi find the peace? for certain, he bears the PRESENCE of a man made akin to an immortal, but who is she to say? she knows only what she’s read whatever considerable records that may be.
❝ tsunade-sama would like to know how your work with anbu is coming, sir. ❞

The charka was familiar but he couldn’t put a place to it. Such a thing wouldn’t bother him normally ( he’d long become used to knowing how many people were around him at all times ) but this charka was very much headed in his direction and it had been a while since he’d been visited by a stranger.
Ah ---- red hues looked up at the woman who presented herself. That was where he knew it from. The war. So this was Tsunade’s pupil. The bottom corner of the file was clenched between thumb and pointer to take a small peak at what new grievances awaited him. Some amused sort of scoff left his lips moments later. The office was clean, minimal, and meticulously orderly.
“ Thank you, “ a beat as he rose and placed the file in its orderly place. Fingers moved one file from a stacked pile and held it out for Sakura in return. She was a medic. He knew it from her files but he could feel that chakra, that energy, even stronger than his grand niece. “ Current reports. “
IMPORTANT PSA FOR MY RP PARTNERS!!:
As most of you know, my writing style incorporates tiny text, bolded texts, all capitalized texts, and italicized texts. For some (including myself at times given that I have poor eyesight) this is hard to read. If you and I have a thread together, but would prefer me not using tiny text because you have a hard time reading it than please tell me! I am more than willing to accommodate for each of you when we have threads going (or when I reply to asks). Please do not feel like you will offend me at all. As long as you do it in a polite manner than what is the big deal?
I would rather have a thread that you enjoy and are willing to respond to, rather than something you have a hard time reading!
She was far from alone in being wary. The more that he learned it's history; the more that he observed these men and women and how inhuman they had become the more he felt the storm of rage in his gut. How DARE he build himself a throne on the backs of children-- turn their hands into spears and cut their tongues from their mouths. There was some form of sweet irony that he was done in by an Uchiha, Tobirama thought.
Fingers wrung around his glass as he continued to observe her through her silences and her speeches. The tension when Kabuto was brought up hung in the air. Kabuto was a very fascinated example of intelligent work gone too far. His genius in medical jutsu was an additional layer but luckily not at all what the Senju was speaking of.
" Ah, yes. Orochimaru number two. " A beat. " No, Haruno-san. I speak sorely in the case that these agents require medical attention upon themselves or another member while dispatched. Some missions are too dangerous or sensitive to send out an entire team and while the idea of a medic in the field with a three-man team is ideal for an average shinobi it is not ideal for us. "
The glass rose to his lips for a drink as he allowed his words to be considered for a moment before he leaned forward just enough to emphasize his words, seeking to assure her.
" Sometimes the death of a target is unavoidable, but assassination is the very last option. " A moment. " Please, feel free to leaf through this. The current description of ANBU's purpose, mission, and admissions." With that, he leaned back comfortably into his chair once more. " Do you want the short list or the long list, Haruno-san? "
He has a savage mind made good by the promise of change; but as the earth quakes he wonders if it’s enough to save him.

kinokami:
The dig wasn’t subtle, though Hashirama found himself confused more than anything else. How long had it been since he departed from life, and just how bitter had his end made his little brother? Tobirama never did like to share his feelings, even though it was a sorely needed release. At least, from where Hashirama was standing, a dead man living on borrowed time.
“Did you bring me back to give me a lecture?” He suspected that Tobirama had known, even back then, why Hashirama had made the decisions he had. Why he wanted to die. But they’d never spoken of it prior to his death. And after, well.
There was a long silence as the man grappled with himself. His entire body showed this war -- the ebb in his brows, tightness in his jaw, and the clench of his fist buried deep in his opposing arm. It wasn’t Hashirama’s fault. Emotions were... unruly. Illogical. Irrational. Yet he couldn’t help feel that seed of anger; that storm of rage. Of course he knew. He knew his brother and he knew his heart. He knew that Hashirama didn’t die on the battlefield. No, he died the day Madara did.
But it still ached. Yes, it was true that he had never been too good at expressing his emotions unless it was anger. Anger was executable and he had a well of it. A seemingly bottomless well of it, but. Don’t do it. Don’t do it, Tobirama. Let it go. It’s been years. It’s been decades, even. He’d let it go. The past could not be rewritten nor should time be so carelessly tampered with even if it could. A truth, but an ironic thought considering how much he liked to tamper with things that shouldn’t be tampered with.
He let out a thin exhale.
“No,” a beat -- he wasn’t going to apologize for it, though. “I did earnestly want your thoughts and opinions.” On moving forward. On how to tackle things. A mind that could balance his and one he trusted.
TOBIRAMA SENJU // NIDAIME // LORD SECOND // ANBU LEADER His heart craved peace but his spirit was made for war.
The fourth war had come to a close. Devastated, the shinobi world was in need of reformation. When his eyes opened, heart began to beat, and lungs breathed in oxygen for the first time in decades, he was no longer under the control of any jutsu. He was alive. Fully alive. What else would a man as he do but take up old reigns? The Second Coming ;; ANBU Reformation dossier ;; analysis ;; headcanons ;; ask ;; mobile nav
To say that she was SURPRISED would have certainly been an understatement. After all, she had fully e x p e c t e d her outbursts to have halted with the rise of a hand. But nevertheless, she was grateful for it. ❝ Yes, she was the one who taught me medical ninjutsu; and the byakugō seal. I inherited my Will from her as well. ❞ She remarked with a nod of her head, smiling slightly. She paused, moving her chair c l o s e r to him as was instructed.
In truth, she figured that the HARDEST part was now over. It would appear as though he was c o m p l e t e l y fine with her request and furthermore was interested in what she had to say. ❝ While I do not know of the inner workings of the ANBU, other than it is secret and filled with elite ninja of the highest caliber, I do know that in regards to medical ninjutsu things need to change. ❞ She began, a mixture of professionalism and passion seeping from her words.
Where should she begin first? Should she start by bringing up the War, and how SO MANY more lives would have been lost if it weren’t for Katsuyu and the ability to be able to heal the m a s s e s in an instant? Though with that, she was fully aware that Katsuyu was not what was needed, albeit it would be nice if everyone could constantly have a small Katsuyu with them like they did during the War, that was something that was simply impossible. Emerald hues peered at him carefully, deep in thought at she tried to figure out what it was that she wanted to say n e x t.
— ❝ During the War we were o n l y able to save so many lives thanks to the Immense Healing Network jutsu with Katsuyu. ❞
She began pausing for a moment, speaking thoughtfully each word carefully CHOSEN. Once again she knew that there was ONLY so much medical-nin were capable of, she was able to pull off what she did in part to her training and the seal she has. As such, what was devised for the future had to be geared towards the more a v e r a g e medical-nin type.
❝ While it is pretty improbable for ALL medical-nin to be able to achieve this, there is something we CAN do to limit c a s u a l t i e s both on the battlefield and during missions. Having medical-nin who are ready to deploy when teams go out could potentially cut down on the number of injured who return home during a mission. Even cutting down on the amount of Konoha shinobi we lose each year when out on missions. ❞ Her words reflected the philosophies of her sensei. Teachings that were instilled in her over the y e a r s she spent learning under the Sannin herself.
While she KNEW that these changes would not and certainly could not occur overnight, she still wanted to discuss her ideas; some of which were influenced and even reflected ideas that Tsunade held as well. She wasn’t sure what the logistics would be, or even the practicality of them either. After all, having an additional person sent out on a mission would off-balance four-man squads for one thing.
❝ If we simply add someone to the squads even, it could greatly help our shinobi. While I do realize that d e a t h is an inevitable part of being a shinobi and something that we all must face. I do believe that there is work that can be done in order to try and preserve lives. ❞
Her words fell more freely now, a hand briefly extending to her side in a passionate display of her soliloquy of sorts. Part of her even WONDERED if she should bring up the clinics she helped to create, the ones solely focused on mental health. That was something JUST as i m p o r t a n t to her, and there was such a NEED for it to following the war.
Tobirama knew he had a reputation. He had a stern face and held himself with a militant authority. He liked law, and order, and systems, and protocols, but he was no tyrant. The very fact that ANBU had become as it was now made his blood boil. Danzou was a disgrace. He'd even claim disappointment in Sarutobi. A leader's job was never to send people to the grave on their behest. A leader's job was to lead. To be at the front, not the back. To have guided and mentored their subordinates so that they could take the reigns when the time came. Never. Never was their job to cower behind others.
If a leader was afraid to die in the event that no one could continue their work then they failed as a leader. Period.
Red eyes observed her. The more she spoke the more he could feel yang energy within her. Very strong. Far stronger than Tsunade. She was passionate about this subject. A person who held great care for the survival of her peers. Seemingly so naturally and fiercely selfless. Although still valuable, it was a shame so many of her concerns weren't entirely applicable to ANBU. Not likely for the reason she may initially think.
A finger moved clipped together paper from one of the side piles and slipped it over to her side of the desk. Enclosed was only information on the primary purpose of ANBU.
" I understand Sai and his late commander might have given you the wrong impression of what ANBU truly is. " To be fair to Sai, he knew nothing but ROOT. " And I hope you'll understand why I cannot currently go into great detail of its various sects, but ROOT was not my design. It was a plague, and it spat in the face of the very foundations of Konoha. " He nodded to the paper. " We're an intelligence and security division, Haruno-san. "
There was a moment before he rose to move toward the side of the office where cups and drinks laid. " Are you a water person, or a whiskey person? " The voice held a mark of amusement and he returned to his seat with her preferred choice.
" Your concerns aren't entirely lost on us, however. For safety reasons many more dangerous missions are one or two person jobs. Some missions enlist entire teams of four, five, nine, ten. Ideally, anyone within a branch that may waver more on the, " how to put it, " potentially morally gray side would be medically trained. " A moment. " Unlike Danzou, however, we prefer our information, spies, moles, or otherwise prized targets alive ."
❀ // ACCEPTING
It had been y e a r s after the conclusion of the Fourth Great Shinobi War, and the kunoichi hadn’t been idle. In the aftermath of the war, she and Ino had set up a clinic to assist the children of Konoha with their mental health; giving them the help they needed to be able to understand and internalize the war. They would later go on to do the SAME thing in Suna, something that made her feel accomplished. She had heard the news that the Nidaime had been reincarnated, and it wasn’t by means of Edo Tensei; in fact, NOBODY was sure how it occurred.
Regardless of what it was, or how it happened, it came as a shock to hear that the acting head of the ANBU had personally called upon her for what was deemed to be ❛ her expertise ❜ in medical ninjutsu. The summonings had her stomach c h u r n i n g like a boat lost at sea, caught up in the eye of a storm. Why was she SO nervous? This would give her the chance to be able to discuss things she felt NEEDED to be changed. Was her nerves a result of the unknown, at being summoned to stand before the Nidaime who had long since been dead? Sakura wasn’t sure, r e g a r d l e s s of what it was she went dutifully to his office.
A soft rapping at his door signaled her arrival, waiting patiently until she was given PERMISSION to enter. ❝ Ah —— Lord Second, I was summoned here by your wishes to discuss the medical field. ❞ She stated as if he NEEDED to be told why she was summoned before him. Emerald hues peered intently at the elder male, her heart r a c i n g; the old brag of her heart beating loudly in her eardrums. The nerves were from a mixture of standing before a legend and wanting to speak her mind.
This was the PERFECT opportunity for her to discuss what she feels needs to be changed after the things she has witnessed over the y e a r s. A deep breath in, the breath slowly exhaled; the action ALLOWING her to steel her nerves. To work up the courage to interject, to state what had been in the back of her mind for such a long time now.
❝ Lord Second, please forgive me if this is rather brash of me but while I have your ear I would like to discuss with you things I feel MUST be changed. I am fully prepared to discuss with you my thoughts on the reforms you are seeking; I would also like to request that you allow me to speak as candidly with you as I might an equal. ❞
She f o r c e d herself to pause, watching for the elder’s reaction. After all, she just spoke rather audaciously to him. Something that she certainly wouldn’t have done years ago, something that even surprised her in the moment. ❝ I apologize for the outburst Lord Second, I understand that that is not necessarily the reason why you have summoned me here today. But this is something that I feel very strongly about. And if it means protecting and saving the lives of Konoha shinobi I think it will be worth it. ❞ She added thoughtfully.
It wasn’t like her to speak so OPENLY like this, while it would hold true that she did have her moments of candidacy with Tsunade; this was entirely different than any of those s u r m o u n t a b l e occasions. She once again stopped herself from speaking, more so out of fear of getting ahead of herself and ruining her chances of enacting change. His reputation certainly preceded him in many ways, which is EXACTLY why she stopped the words flowing from her tongue.
It was indeed a mystery, and by some strange coincidence, his reincarnation coincided with a desperate need. Filling this old role was not easy. He did not just wake one day and land this office the next. It took many discussions and many deliberations. Finding his footing in Konoha's current framework was even more difficult than building it had been. It was easy to create a system but difficult to rearrange that system when it had become so deeply rooted in so many people. Hearing how Konoha had operated, how his frameworks were corrupted... it certainly didn't appease him. Tobirama wasn't one to believe in fate but there was something to be said about the timing of everything.
Konoha wanted to change.
Meeting after meeting, month after month, he finally found himself right back to square one. Tobirama was a leader, but he was not Hokage material and he never again would step into that role and hopefully would never need to. Here was where he could make a difference. Here was where he belonged. ANBU. Many had been honorably discharged upon his leadership. Although more concerning were those who begged to stay; those who knew nothing but this life; those who couldn’t fathom a world outside of this. In many ways, he could understand it. He could understand the plea a lot more than he would be willing to admit.
When people thought about the fallout of a war they thought about infrastructure. Buildings could be rebuilt. Roads repaved. Homes remade and trees replanted. No one thinks about the mind. No one thinks about how difficult it is to bring someone back from what had been endured. To bring a man back from war? It was sometimes impossible, and he knew that intimately. So. How could he manage the impossible? How could he heal these wounds?
Word had spread of medical facilities. Ones that cared for wounds deeper than the flesh. Of course, Tobirama spoke to Tsunade first of his concerns and she gladly gave him a name. Haruno Sakura.
The Senju stood as was his wont when she arrived and he permitted her entrance. A hand unfolded for her to sit at the chair by his desk but any further movement was halted when she began speaking. She was bold. Direct and clear with her request. Something of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips and he sat back down.
" Tsunade was never one to bow. " A pause. " She was a powerful woman even as a child. It's clear she mentored you. " Gambling and drinking aside, but no one was perfect. " Please, pull up your chair and join me. "
Countless books and scrolls were piled neat and orderly on and around his desk. Files he would likely reference, papers that were in the process of being refined, and refined, and once more. He was nothing if not meticulous and if she was as passionate as Tsunade said, as she came across now, then he would be glad to see her as equal. To treat her as equal.
" It is why I asked you here, " he confirmed after a moment. " Allow me to give you permission to stop holding your tongue. "
WHAT PLANET MATCHES YOUR PERSONALITY?
SATURN
Saturn embodies the spirit of the scholar; you pull knowledge from the universe and spin it into wisdom for others who ask for it. Once you set your mind to something, you have a tendency to develop tunnel vision by ignoring other people and your needs. When you are able to balance yourself and your ambitions, however, you are a magnificent force of intelligence.
kinokami:
That was a meager explanation at best, and if anyone else had given it, they’d be subject to Hashirama’s suspicion. Since it was Tobirama, he was only subject to an expression amounting to a pout.
“You were lonely.”
How many years had passed, then? How long had Tobirama chipped away at this new existence? These questions weren’t trivial; someone had definitely upset the passage of time.
And Tobirama was not an adaptable personality, at least, in Hashirama’s expert opinion.
“You can admit it, you know. There’s no shame in feeling the bite of solitude.”
He could adapt, sure. Progression required change but when so much had changed and it was not he or his who put to action those changes, well. It became more difficult. He did enjoy law, order, and systems. He liked to know and understand things thoroughly and it was not very often that he didn’t. Yet here he was, scrambling. There was nothing here to hold on to so what would someone like Tobirama do? Work, of course.
Eyes observed his brother and that pout. The man sighed. He didn’t believe such a reason would satiate or ring true even if it did have some truth to it... yes, the reality was that he was lonely. But he had been lonely. He’d been lonely even before Hashirama died. Ever since that Uchiha broke his brother.
A piece of him was suddenly gone. A piece he’d never get back.
“It may be so but that’s hardly an excuse to be careless,” he crossed his arms, “is it, Hashirama?”
