Yoo, I'm writing a story about a teenage boy who's super cynical and pessimistic (he gets better later on) Is there a way I can write him to make him NOT like Arthur or James?

This is kind of a difficult question honestly because the whole cynical pessimist angle is kind of a dangerous line to walk. The most obvious example would probably be Holden Caulfield and sure there are people who think he’s a sympathetic work of literary genius but there are also more than plenty who think he’s a shitty annoying spoiled brat. But it all depends on your plans for the character

I guess my best advice (especially in the context of Greg’s books) would be to show the readers WHY your character is cynical and pessimistic without going over the top with like pointless soliloquy and edgy imagery talking about everyone being beneath him and all that. Make sure to highlight his development as his outlook improves. Basically read everything Arthur does in This is Why I Hate You and fuckin’ don’t do it lol.

Hey, I know this blog is for reviewing Onision's books, but as an aspiring writer, would it be okay to ask for writing advice?

I mean sure if you really want I might be able to help you with some of the basics but i can’t really guarantee that I’ll be of much help honestly because for as much as I love english and writing I’m Also A Fucking Idiot and i don’t know how i convinced you guys that I know Dick about anything so just know that nothing i say is gospel

Found the first three chapters of the new book. He’s learned NOTHING

I’m only half shocked honestly like every time he releases on of these travesties I wonder to myself if maybe he finally took some semblance of a hint and actually tried or did minimal editing or at least thought up a half decent plot but like with how resistant he was to criticism in the STA days I should know better lol

I know you haven't been here for a while, but hell, sweet onion made a patreon (yep, I wish I kidding too) and when I saw the reward for donating at least 2 dolars, which is a free pdf of his books, I thought of you. Not only you review them, you had already shared a pdf of his shitty books for free. Donating t him is like throwing money off a window.

Oh my god this mother of fuck is actually getting 4800 dollars a month from his idiot fans fans on top of his already sizable 6 figure youtube income. I know that youtube’s new policies are causing problems for some people but I doubt Greg is actually one of them. What a greedy fuck.

I feel sorry for anybody who thinks his books are worth 2 bucks especially since Stones To Abbigale is really easy to find PDFs for and TIWIHY isn’t even worth looking for.
