There is technically a ghost possessing the hammer, hence the sentience, but nobody knows how or why it got there.

The hammer goes by he/it pronouns

He will call any banhammer he meets a variation of "father" or "mother" (depends on the gender identity of the banhammer)

The designs and concept of the Decoe and Bocoe characters from Sonic X (2003) are repurposed from an older anime also produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Hajime Kamegaki, Kinkyū Hasshin Saver Kids (1991). This was all probably done due to the fact that both duos are minions working under a robot-utilizing mad scientist character.

Decoe and his counterpart Epsilon even share the same Japanese voice actor, Ken Yamaguchi, whereas Bocoe is simply played by a soundalike due to Omega's voice actor, Ginzō Matsuo, passing in 2001.
