To get a better understanding of REG ask some transwomen with experience of it too, it's not a bad term it's to show who is using terf ideology. I'm actually wary of those who say it's a bad term to use. So far it's helped me avoid abusers

Could you point me into the direction of some these trans women? This is really my first time hearing this term, and I like to think I follow quite a few trans women, though usually they aren’t involved in the ace discourse, since I prefer to stay out of that subject.

The term REG was coined by transwomen to call the people who recycle TERF rhetoric and use it for their own gatekeeping motives. If you get called a REG, it is likely you used TERF ideology and you should look back and rethink your statement and apologize, spreading TERF ideology is dangerous and should not be platformed at any cost. Doesn't matter what side of the discourse you're on, you should not uphold TERF ideology

 Can you provide a source for the creation of the term though? I’m curious to hear more about the term by the woman who created it. Of course, I would never want to spread anything TERF related, though I’m also wondering how “TERF rhetoric” would even be reused in this kind of discourse?

Try not to fear too much, though, dear friend! We have our community, we have our voices, and cis people can barely count past two, so I’m confident we still have a leg up on them in this one...

A "REG" is a reactionary exclusionist gatekeeper which is meant to group together LGBT people who don't think cishet aces/aros are LGBT, TERFs, truscum, and biphobes together. So, typically anti-cishet aces are called REGS, which mean LGBT folk are being grouped together with TERFs, truscum, and biphobes aka peopel who want LGBT folk dead. It's a bad term.

...Hm, yeah, that’s a pretty unpleasant term that I’d like to steer away from, personally. I’m interested in hearing how other people might define the term, maybe to get a greater understanding, but I also really don’t want too much ace/aro discourse on this blog.

Hi there. I'm a cis black girl. I feel so stupid but how can I explain gender to my mom? She doesn't get why I think all pronouns are valid. I don't want to explain incorrectly. All I want is to avoid being offensive on accident.

Maybe explain to her how everyone’s experience with gender is different, and even every cis person likes to perform and present their gender in a different way. For example, not every cis woman experiences and has the same relationship with being a woman, not every cis woman dress and performs womanhood and femininity the same. That same concept can be extended to gender itself. Not everyone feels the same about their gender, not everyone feels comfortable with the same pronouns. With every unique person, there is an unique experience of their gender, and sometimes, a unique pronoun that they’re comfortable with.

I’m not super fond of the idea of saying “biologically female” tbh, but I get what you’re saying, and I’m glad you weren’t hurt by it! Misgendering is shitty. I also understand the sentiment. Misgendering is unpleasant, but it feels a lot more tolerable to be referred to as anything other than what’s been forced upon you all your life, even if it’s.. still not right on the money; in my experience at least.

What is cis? Is it gor or against transexuals? I'm really confused by your page because it doesn't make it clear, it just uses the acronym cis without explaining it. You should put one in your description.

...This question is wild, start to finish. I feel like you haven’t had any introduction to lgbt+ issues or discourse at all, though, so I’ll try to be slow and thorough. 

 “Transsexuals” is a very iffy term, some people have reclaimed it, or use it to refer to having had bottom surgery? Personally, I know it’s been used and associated heavily with the pathologization of transness and also as a slur to insult and alienate trans people, and I most generally see it used by cis people to forcibly label trans people or ambiguously presenting cis people without their consent, and usually in the context of transphobic and intolerant statements about them. So, “transsexual” is an outdated, mostly offensive term, try not to use it. The proper vocabulary would be “transgender”, as an adjective, for example: I am a transgender person, they are transgender, we are transgender people. 

Secondly, “Cis” is not an acronym. It is an abbreviated version of the word “cisgender”, or the opposite of transgender. Also an adjective, where being transgender means your gender is different than the one assigned to you at birth, either sometimes or partially, being cisgender means your gender is the same or aligns always with the one assigned at birth. So, a “cisgender man” feels he is 100% a man, all of the time, thus, he is cisgender. 

I don’t put an explanation in my description because these are intro pieces of knowledge that I assume most people coming to me to discuss trans issues know, and if they don’t, I have numerous explanations and definitions that I’ve given on my blog.

Ahh, as someone who tries to present as sort of ambiguously feminine/masculine, I definitely know that feeling. At a school dance once, actually, there were a couple of boys who were like “Here you go... ma’am? Sir? Sirma’am?” and on one hand.... Eugh, okay, maybe not, but also, I couldn’t help but feel pretty smug about it. In my experience, you can still put some shame upon them for the unnecessary gendering and transphobia while also feeling proud about your presentation and how people perceive you.   

Being trans is often too great for cis minds to really comprehend, you know?

Oh, no, I try not too touch ace discourse, that stuff is... too wild and confusing for me, I think. My header is actually a nonbinary flag, though I mean, shout out to ace followers? You guys are cool, and I’m glad you appreciate the content!!

(Though, I have to ask, because I’m curious and I guess very out of the loop on the discourse lingo; what does “REG” refer to?)
