Safety Tips to Follow While Working With Metal Cages
A recently concluded study in the UK revealed that more than 60 percent of the injuries at warehouses involve metal cages and specially, the roll cages. The reason is that despite being a very useful for a warehouse, they have some risks associated as well that are of relatively higher degree.
However, experts say that averting them is pretty easy and can be done with the help of following tips.
Avoiding long periods of loading and unloading
The best step is ensuring that the employees are not engaged in long term loading and unloading of these things like warehouse cages, metal cages, pallet cages, etc.
They should be given a break of sufficient time to get their breath back and their muscles relaxed.
Moreover, you should give them a chance to stretch, reflex and relax their muscles as this is the best way to avoid any muscular or strain injury.
Safe and sensible mobility
These roll cages, transport cages, etc. should be mobilized from one place to another in a very attentive behavior.
For this, the staff should be trained from time to time so that things stay refreshed in their minds.
Roll cages, especially are risky and therefore, pulling them is not recommended because this increases the risk of a strain injury.
The best way to mobilize them is to push them in a controlled momentum as too much of momentum can make it difficult to stop it on time.
Moreover, they should be instructed to work on one cage at a time rather than forming a train of warehouse cages or pallet cages.
These trains are a good method to do more in less time, but it is a fairly risky business as well.
