🍴 Yummy Yummy Yummy 宴遇永安 (2025) — Episode. 04
I feel like some people need to relearn Genre Expectations... "Man, this tragedy sucks!!! Why didn't they just do XYZ, then everything could have ended happily!!" well, then it wouldn't be a tragedy, would it. "Man, this lighthearted teen romcom is terrible, it's so sappy and unrealistic!!" Well, yeah. If it had been gritty and dark, it wouldn't have been a lighthearted romcom, would it. Is the writing actually bad or are you just trying to order a milkshake from a Home Depot
Me about The Character:
i love how fanny is really skilled in swindling because she already lying so many times to her mother about belle and the fact that she also skilled in painting, and could make a perfect lettering for forgery. like, it makes total sense and doesn't come from nowhere.
and i love her bonding with fagin and how fagin treat her as equal and accepted her. i just love their interaction and i know fagin is really close to change her fake company as fagin and daughter.

my man shen gongcai got elbowed across the cranium by villain no.2 so hard he managed to resolve the whole ancestor conundrum
Jicai is just so fiercely protective of her family and friends. She took a massive risk to help this woman she had just met and became friends with. But she can't bring herself to put her family in danger.
It was okay to be reckless when they first arrived here and played by their own rules since they figured they would just return home eventually. But now that the Shen's are trapped in this timeline, it's no longer safe to stand out. To survive, they must comply with the rules and the laws of the times. And must bow their heads to higher authority or risk losing their lives. And Jicai understands the danger much better than her family seems to. So, no wonder she's hesitant about harbouring someone who might bring trouble to their doorsteps.
So she tries to harden her heart and drive her away. She tries to be cold and unfeeling and put her family first, but ultimately, she can't really do it. That's just not the type of person she is. Lin Yan understands that about her perfectly.
And sure enough, she goes back to get her friend.
He's so proud of his girl!!!😭😭😭 It kills me that he knows how good jicai is. How kind and generous is her soul and just how wonderful she is as a person. How fiercely protective she is of her family and really, anyone she considers her family. To be loved by jicai would be the most wonderful thing. And he absolutely knows it.
The thing about Yummy Yummy Yummy A Feast in Yong'an is that it has been such a refreshing surprise. There is not a single one-dimensional character in the ensemble cast.
From major to minor, all the characters are penned with an authenticity and tenderness that is honestly rare in the present drama landscape. Despite it being a vibrant rom-com with a slice of time-travel and family shenanigans, when it comes to emotional interplay between various characters, the style of writing is so understated and natural that you gradually find yourself invested in them all.
The romance too doesn't spring from instant attraction (a tiresome trope done to death) but takes its time without compromising the overall pace. The dialogue between the leads doesn't feel forced, there is no sign of therapy-speak whenever confidences are shared, and even when the most worn-out tropes of the genre are employed like falling and catching, accidental kissing, they are executed in such a muted, unpretentious style that it actually heightens the effect and gives you some major butterflies.
There is a gentle, unhurried unfolding of friendship and fondness, respect and love, with some delectable angst thrown in for good measure between the leads. and oh. I just adore it when a slow-burn is handled with such care and is done so right.
friend put on the frankenstein audiobook narrated by dan stevens as we work in the living room, and now i am a weeping, sniffing mess
The way The Double's background score is absolute fire?!?!
Why are they so cute!!┊︎ Till The End of The Moon
You do realise I wasn't criticising you yesterday? You compared me to a baboon with inflated genitals and then called me a terrorist.
