Brandon gritted his teeth and looked down, “That’s why I’d stay with him, even if I didn’t love him. I do…love him. But I’d do anything for Patrick…you know that.”
“But… you don’t love him anymore, do you?” Cam whispered, looking away to hid the hope that shattered in his eyes.
Brandon looked down, messing with his hands, "I can't stop loving him," he whispered, "But everyone has a breaking point. I'm just so /tired/ and I haven't even graduated high school, Cam."

“Maybe I don’t,” Brandon said bluntly, “Then what would you say?”
“Patrick loves him.“ Cam mumbled softly, looking Brandon right in the eye, “And he loves Patrick.“
Brandon gritted his teeth and looked down, "That's why I'd stay with him, even if I didn't love him. I do...love him. But I'd do anything for Patrick...you know that."

“Cam…I-I’m just a kid,” Brandon whispered, “I’m barely eighteen.”
Cam gave Brandon an empathetic smile, “And you love him.” he concluded.
"Maybe I don't," Brandon said bluntly, "Then what would you say?"

“Yes. Not an ideal one, but yes,” Brandon swallowed, “He saved me.”
Cam looked at Brandon sadly and sighed, “Aster… He’s like an attack dog. Raised to keep people away, but so depraved of affection. The moment he hurts people he loves, that’s when he needs them the most.” he said, giving him a flat smile.
"Cam...I-I'm just a kid," Brandon whispered, "I'm barely eighteen."

“Maybe I shouldn’t have, then,” Brandon laughed bitterly, “I’m on my last year of high school. Maybe I could have had a life.”
“Hasn’t he given you one?” Cam asked in confusion.
"Yes. Not an ideal one, but yes," Brandon swallowed, "He saved me."

Cam looked over at Brandon worriedly, “Y’know, this is exactly what you signed up for when you decided to marry him,” he pointed out with a dry smile.
"Maybe I shouldn't have, then," Brandon laughed bitterly, "I'm on my last year of high school. Maybe I could have had a life."

Patrick stayed silent now, content with hugging his dad. Brandon sat out on the front porch of the house, staring at the road.
“–Um, hey…” Cam whispered as he stepped out of the house and closed the door behind him. “Mind if I sit?” he asked Brandon softly, though was already going to do so beside him.
Brandon shrugged, "Whatever, do what you want."
"So I kinda gave Cupcake catnip to see what happens and I think I just got our cat addicted,"
"Great," Sebastian laughed, "It usually wears off. Just kind of try to slowly wane him off," he smiled, trying to conceal his laughter.

Patrick held onto him tightly and didn’t move.
Aster just hugged onto Patrick tighter, not saying a word as he kissed the top of his son’s head.
“I’ll go find Brandon,” Cam whispered, before heading out of the kitchen to do just that.
Patrick stayed silent now, content with hugging his dad. Brandon sat out on the front porch of the house, staring at the road.

“NO!” Dustin snapped, “Goodbye,” he said before walking out and slamming the door.
The nurse flinched, then looked sadly into the room. For a while, she was hesitant, but eventually she came over to Axel’s side and placed a loving hand over his. “…We’ll contact your family,” she reassured, giving him a soft smile.
Axel just stared into space, not saying a word, not shedding a tear, but pain shone in his eyes nonetheless.

Patrick held onto him tightly, “Promise you won’t leave me! Promise!”
“Promise, Pat. Promise,” Aster choked out, pulling him closer into the hug and giving him a kiss on the top of his ginger head. He cupped his son’s face and swiped his cheeks, trying to give him a smile, “Daddy’s just…going through problems,” he sniffled, looking at Pat right in the eyes. “ Daddy just needs to get better, okay?”
“Daddy… Daddy just needs help,” he bit his lip, something inside him lurching from admitting that fact alone. “Daddy needs your help– you and your brother,” his bottom lip trembled as tears poured from his eyes. He took in a sharp breath, before leaning his forehead against Pat’s.
“W-We’ll be okay, Pat. No one’s going to leave.”
Patrick held onto him tightly and didn't move.

“Ask someone else!” Dustin snapped, “I’m not dealing with this!”
“Okay,” the nurse replied silently as she held open the door, “Do you still want to see him?”
"NO!" Dustin snapped, "Goodbye," he said before walking out and slamming the door.

Patrick ran into the house quickly, still soaking wet from the floor. He almost fell when he walked in on the hard wood floor but managed to make his way to Aster and fall down on top of him. He hugged him tightly and buried his face in his chest.
The moment Patrick stepped (slipped) in, Cam pulled away from his friend to make room for the two.
Aster immediately took him in his arms, hugging him tightly and nuzzling his face at the crook of his shoulder. “I-I’m so sorry, Pat. I didn’t mean to– D-Daddy didn’t mean to scream–” he choked out shaking violently as he kissed the top of Patrick’s head.
“Daddy won’t leave, he’s just here– I’m here, Pat. I love you–” he sniffled, cupping Patrick’s cheeks and caressing it softly, “I love you, Pat. I can’t do it without you or your brother,” he kissed his forehead before pulling him into a tight hug.
Patrick held onto him tightly, "Promise you won't leave me! Promise!"

Brandon didn’t say anything and gritted his teeth, closing his eyes tightly.
“Y-You’ll be okay,” Cam whispered, closing his eyes as he hugged his friend tighter. “You’ll be okay, you know that,” Cam reassured with a sniffle.
“I-I can’t be around them, not right now,” Aster choked out, tears pouring out as he trembled. “T-They’ll hate me. He’ll hate me. Patrick’ll hate me,” the man sobbed.
“They won’t,” Cam shook his head, holding onto his friend.

“–So we’ll go with the feeding tube?” the nurse whispered quietly.
"Ask someone else!" Dustin snapped, "I'm not dealing with this!"

“Well…what am I supposed to do?!” Dustin demanded, “I-I haven’t known him very long. YOU’RE the doctors! You do the work!” Dustin snapped.
“Doctor Sterling said you two were close,” the nurse whispered, “We could attach a feeding tube, but we don’t want to put him under any more trouble…”
"We aren't that close!" Dustin protested.

“Go check on Aster, Cam,” Greg got up quickly and ran after Brandon, “Patrick, just keep playing, everything will be fine.”
Cam stumbled out of the pool, a look of loss and confusion written all over his face as he looked from Brandon, to Pat, to Greg. He swallowed thickly and gave a curt nod before bolting for the kitchen.
One. Two. Three.
The plates kept on crashing at the wall right across. It wasn’t enough, didn’t feel enough. With shaky hands, Aster took another plate and threw it as hard as he could; he was screaming, angry, teary screaming, but it didn’t feel enough. His head hurt so much so, to the point it was just a numbing buzz, dulling all his senses but hurt. Not broken enough. Not loud enough. He felt worse inside, and he couldn’t get it out.
…
…
He was in pain.
“–Aster, stop!”
Cam barged into the kitchen and ripped out the plate shard out of his hand, a look of panic and fear as he looked down at the bloody hand. Immediately, he grabbed the kitchen hand towel and tried to wrap Aster’s hand with it.
“No!” Aster hissed angrily, ripping out his hand from the cloth and distancing himself from Cam,. “I-I need to–” he choked out, digging his thumb right into the wound and crying out in pain, but he kept pressing into it nonetheless.
“Aster, please!” Cam choked out, seizing Aster’s hands. Cam looked at him right in the eyes, teary and desperate as he clung onto his friend, “Please don’t… don’t do this,” he pleaded quietly– desperately.
"Brandon, wait!" Greg yelled, running after him as he went to get in the car, "Stop for just a moment. Think about what you're doing. Aster needs you. He's going to break!"
"Do you not realize how HARD IT IS?!" Brandon yelled, "I want to help him," he said desperately, "But it seems no matter what I do it won't work. I know he has a lot of problems and I feel guilty for saying it, but it hurts me that I can't do anything for him! It hurts that I can't do enough for him! I feel like SHIT!" Greg pulled him into a hug, trying to calm him down.
