Kin and Nami danced together, obvious to the looks from their fellow villagers and families. The others were giving them a wife berth, on account of the young couple not caring whose feet they stepped on.
"So, what was all this really about?" Kin asked as he pulled her in close for a slow dance. Nami had to suppress a chuckle at the relieved looks on the others faces.
"I don't know what you mean." Nami said, her heart starting to pound faster.
"I mean, it was obvious our fathers took the cask. No one else had access and they are unrepentant Cider lovers. Why the whole mystery and interrogation of our friends and family?"
Nami was quiet for a moment, just enjoying the warmth of Kin's arms as the spring breeze blew through her dress. "Bolla was planning to ask you to be her Apple Blossom Lad, if she won. I was trying to distract myself from the idea of you and her together. Kin, you have a real talent for smithing. You could live a long and happy life here, with someone like Bolla. And here I am, wanting to take you away from your home."
Kin leaned down so his bright silvery eyes were locked on hers. "The woman I want as my wife will be leaving town to become an adventurer. I decided long ago, as the comet light danced in her eyes, that I would follow her anywhere. At that moment, my life was yours, Nami. I don't want a quiet life, I want us to be together. No matter where we are."
Nami's heart was melting into a puddle. "Will you still feel that way, when you are up to your armpits in mud, i wonder?"
Kin laughed, causing all the other couples to look at them in reproach. "I want to say yes, but there is a mud limit, Nami."
She playfully smacked his chest.
