Refreshing my unity3d skills with this awesome video tutorial from http://devslopes.com via udemy.
Good Post how to use Swift in an existing Objective-C project
very interesting study about a long term beacon pilot in the city center of dusseldorf. the available figures are even more disappointing than I had expected. From a basis of 1.4million german app users only 13k users (who lived in the area around dusseldorf) could use the beacon based features with their devices. From these 13k users, only 2k did.... This number in relation to the effort of a runtime of 6 months, 72 POS, 140 Beacons, 170 campaigns does not need to be commented any further.... IMHO iBeacon is still only interesting for smart home solutions and custom BLE Devices and apps.
My new free iBeacon based app has just made it to the store...after 19 days of Review. Development was much faster
Cloud Beacon arrived. Really curious now
Today the guys behind the successful mobile-game Monument Valley gave some very detailed statistics about their app-sales.
For me the most interesting, but not surprising, fact was, that from a commercial point of view the Android Platform can still be neglected.
Monument Valley was/is still a very successful game, with countless great awards. So the awareness of the game should be almost equal on both platforms (iOS/Android). Yet the Android Platform still is under 20% of the overall revenue.
So in my opinion there is no benefit in developing a native android game. Only if you develop games with cross-platform frameworks like Unity, where an Android release is no big deal, you can consider releasing it on this platform (If you are willing to got through a complete QA on Android).
Another minor interesting fact from a european view, is that there is obvious the key profit gained in USA. Therefore for any commercial project it is crucial to roll out your game asap in the united states.
Want to know how many copies Monument Valley sold? How much money that translated into? What the most popular levels were? Wonder no more.
Thanks to guys of monument valley for sharing these facts!
Great Article examining the usability of mobile apps and sites in context of the new, bigger, device-sizes.
