Palmer tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for Helios to finish packing up. They’d still need to return to their dorms before they set off, and Palmer was anxious to get going.
“Palmerrrr!! Im soooo hyped! This is gonna be hella gas! It’s been ages since we’ve traveled together!”, Helios mused as she rifled through her suitcase. Just how much had that girl packed?
“Try to hurry up if you can. We still need to go back to Tracen before we leave…. But yeah, I’m happy to be traveling with you too, my sunshine!”
“What exactly are we doing again??”, Helios asked, cocking her head.
Palmer sighed. “We’re looking for missing students, remember? That was Tazuna’s punishment for breaking the window.” The Mejiro grimaced as she recalled Helios’s failed swing, and the sound of shattering glass as her golf ball sailed through the window of one of Tracen’s designated summer camp bunkhouses. Helios was a terrible shot, but she sure was strong. Palmer had to admit that much. It was kinda hot…
“Rightttt! That’s it! To be honest, I legit forgot! I think I low-key was too focused on the idea of going on an epic quest with you, Palms! I was thinking about that hella long book they’re making us read in lit class, ya know, the Lillyad?”
“The Iliad.”, Palmer replied, correcting Helios once again.
“Right! The Iliad! Sheesh that thing’s long! I’m wordmaxxing fr! Anyway, isn’t it like, about a bunch of people on a bussin quest or something?? I legit can’t remember…”
“Errr…something like that.” Palmer wasn’t sure that was quite the right description, she felt the Iliad was more about the horrors and grief associated with war, but she was having a hard time understanding the book herself, and didn’t see fit to correct.
“Right! Well, aren’t we just like the main characters!? Chili and ummm, that other guy! We’re gonna go on a journey so epic that they’ll right stories about us too!!”
Palmer couldn’t help but laugh at her bestie’s antics. She could be so dumb sometimes, but her sincerity was just, so cute.
“I think you mean Achilles and Patroclus?”
“Yeah! Those guys!! We’re gonna be heroes too! Weiiiiii!”
Palmer blushed slightly. She didn’t mention to Helios that Achilles and Patroclus were, quite famously, lovers. She decided she’d keep that to herself.
By the time Palmer returned to her senses, breaking off from her decidedly Ancient Greek flavored reverie, Helios had finally finished packing.
“So! Who do you think we should look for. There are a lot of missing students right now. I legitimately wouldn’t know where to begin?”
“Ummm. No cap, I was kinda hoping you’d have a plan…. WAIT! I know! I’m such a genius fr! Why don’t we ask your followers?!”
“Seriously. You rely on the internet for far too much, girlypop! But fine, I guess it can’t hurt! I’ll go ahead and type up a post.”
