“So is anyone going to comment on what has happened just now?” Lied asked worriedly, looking at the other 11 misfits. What he was referring to was the incident that had happened an hour ago before their class ended. Their class was doing their usual study session before their written paper which was happening a few days ago. This time, Shida-sensei was there to assist them. However, when they were about to review the topics of History of the Netherworld, Iruma began coughing and spluttering out blood before collapsing onto the floor. His body was shivering and his eyes couldn’t focus on anything. His breathing was shallow and he kept clutching onto his chest. This was the first time anyone had seen the usually happy-go-(un)lucky boy in so much pain. Shida-sensei was in shock, unprepared for this, so she immediately asked the class to take care of him while she went to find other teachers. Asmodeus and Clara were worried sick and the both of them were about to cry. After all, their soulmate was in so much pain and yet they didn’t know what to do.
Allocer having read a medical book beforehand took immediate control of the situation.
“Someone get something warm, like a heat pack or something,” Allocer ordered as he took Master, Agares’s sentient cloud thing, and laid Iruma on it. From the looks of it, it was probably chronic muscle spasms. From what exactly, that was a mystery. Shida-sensei came back with the head teacher, Balam-sensei and Blushenko-sensei.
“Sensei, please help. Iruma-chi suddenly collapsed!” Clara pleaded, tears welling in her eyes. Blushenko-sensei activated his bloodline ability, Healing Factor, which grants him the power to rapidly heal anyone or him from any injury as long as he has mana. Iruma calmed down for a bit. His body stopped shivering and he slowly fell asleep out of exhaustion. Balam-sensei examined the student’s body before giving Blushenko-sensei a worried look.
“Please excuse us,” Balam-sensei politely muttered as he picked up the unconscious student. “We need to head to the infirmary and have a talk with the other teachers as well as the principal…”
That tone… All the misfits thought. Something must have happened to their beloved friend to the point even the teachers were concerned. And all that happened half an hour ago, before they were dismissed. However, instead of going back after the teacher had left, the class decided to call an emergency meeting in one of the Royal One’s rooms.
Anyways, back to the present. The group was dead silent. None of them knew how to react to that incident, except for Allocer who thankfully was well-informed on medical techniques.
'“Iruma-chi was in so much pain and he tried to muffle his cries,” Clara sniffled before bursting into tears. She hugged Asmodeus tightly. The pink-haired man was also at the loss of words. “We knew that something was wrong with Iruma-sama but we didn’t want to voice it out.”
“I’m sure you know what we meant,” Asmodeus continued before looking at the others. The rest also had the same look.
“You mean the fact that Iruma-dono doesn’t have wings?” Gaap confirmed. “Yea… We’ve noticed…”
“The fact that the sweetest, kindest and honestly, most innocent member of our class was tortured to such extent, is genuinely heart-breaking…” Elizabetta mumbled sadly. The rest nodded along. Iruma was a pure soul, untainted from corruption. He was mostly the reason why many of them got along with each other. Not forgetting the fact that he was diligent, passionate and had all the virtues that separated him from a regular demon. It was Iruma’s greed that inspired them to do better for themselves. It was his greediness and passion to ensure that everyone is treated better. It was his greediness in the first place that got the entire class to work together and stand out as The Misfits. Iruma was one of theirs and neither of them could just stand there while Iruma was suffering silently.
“There’s something strange about this…” Jazz muttered as he had a theory.
“Spill it, my friend,” Sabnock insisted.
“The principal… He didn’t have any children… So how was it possible that he could’ve gotten Iruma-kun?” Jazz concluded.
“Now, to think of it, where did Iruma-kun come from?” Lied nodded as the class began to think deeply. Everyone had their own theories.
“M-maybe, he was abandoned and badly injured?” Kerori stammered.
“Maybe the principal saved him from some bandits?” Gaap commented
“Whatever it is, Iruma-sama has been abandoned by his old parents,” Asmodeus insisted. He didn’t want to overthink his friend’s condition or else he wouldn’t be able to sleep that night.
“Do you wanna… Stalk him?” Purson asked the others. “A little bird told me that the teachers are currently having a meeting…”
“Won’t we get caught?” Lied sighed. Purson shook his head. “Not when we insist that we’re concerned for Iruma’s well-being… I’m sure, they’ll let us slide,”
“All in favour?” Jazz asked the rest, receiving nods with determination.
“Just so you know, my detection warding ability can only hold up to 3 people,” Purson admitted and the rest groaned. Asmodeus beamed. “Don’t worry, I have a lot of high quality detection warding glasses, after all, we’re just eavesdropping,”
They were in fact terrible at eavesdropping…
