theres no plot details in the rest of the review but on the offchance you Are going to see it id really recommend going in blind even if you Have read cosmicomiche just because of the way they stage it. probably even better if you speak fluent italian, which i dont,
no but above all else it is SO well staged and made such good use of the space. there was one moment where q (luca marinelli) points something out to another character on stage and they light up that part of the theatre. later in that scene they light up the whole thing in different colors instead of just the stage
in the same vein it felt like there was a real effort to include the audience in the show, almost all the actors would at least one point end up running around the stalls, go in and out of different exits on and off the stage, up and down the central aisle between the seats (most of them did this multiple times!)

SO much direct interaction with the audience??? applause sign guy comes out on stage and does a whole bit with the applause sign and it's really fun. every now and then they'd talk to someone directly. at one point q asks what zodiac year it is, someone yelled out the right answer, and he went well yes but we have the show to get on with. stuff like that
the only one im 100% sure was unplanned was when q is at one point monologuing despondently and someone in the audience coughed extremely loudly and without missing a beat he went eh and shrugged in response
its calvino so all of that feels pretty in line with the show. they start out with 2 people talking directly to the audience and it sets the tone for the whole thing but it was all so fun
crazy to watch him do all that in real time like. Wow
the sheet you can see is the main thing they use to change up the scenery and my God do they use it. there's some really clever ways of making the environment its super minimalistic which i wasnt sure about but it works
the amount of costume changes in this thing is wild
ending i will be thinking about until the day i Die
10/10 experience would absolutely go again. luca marinelli maybe one of the all time best to do it. half of his interviews abt it are talking about theatre as something that involves the audience and you can tell!!! what a show!! will be thinking about it forever!!!
so the trailer for the second old guard looks great except for the fact that real-life actor luca marinelli must have wandered off at some point and ended up in front of the camera without having been through kostüm or maske by mistake! how weird that they forgot to make him look like a character! hopefully that won't be the case throughout the whole film, because that would be pretty bad, wouldn't it!
Last week I was at Dutch Comiccon and I got the opportunity to speak to Greg Rucka (I didn't even know he was gonna be there I was SO stoked) and when I said I knew him from the Old Guard comics the FIRST thing he said was "I am so sorry about that second film."
I said that I loved the 2nd part of the comics but that the film felt very off, and he said that they basically rewrote his ENTIRE script for the film. He said he was NOT calling the shots up there. He seemed real let down about it.
AND AND he ALSO said that he and his team ARE working on a third issue of The Old Guard, likely to come out in about a year and a half. So REJOICE EVERYONE!!!!! I am so excited!
