he once wrote about how he felt like he wanted to die after failing a test, thinking himself as a failure, bringing a bit of shame and was also drowning in school work, giving him more problems. though, he remembers once upon a time his parents found those pages with suicidal ideations and they watched him like a hawk for days, so he rips out those pages, careful to not leave a trace, and hides them. writes about how he was sick of living? tears it out. writes about how he felt imperfect and wasn't good enough? tears it out.

nobody will tell him, but sodapop once found those pages under the bed or scattered on the floor. he reads them the best he can, and never talks about it.

I imagine he's pretty put off by it at first. He grew up really traditionally, so Dally wanting to play with dolls is pretty weird to him. He comes around pretty easily, but it's just so not Dallas to him that it takes him a minute.

Once Darry explains the whole trauma play thing to him, he's definitely way more open to it.

You're telling him just playing with dolls is helping Dally's nightmares and making him less of a self-destructive pain in the ass? Sign him right up.

At first, little Dally is super protective of his dolls. He screams and fusses if Buck even comes near them. It's like the start of Buck taking care of him all over again.

Eventually, Dally does come around, but he's always been a bit wary of anyone else touching his toys. Especially Buck as an older man.

I imagine Buck and Tim are the two people who have always known the most about Dally's past. Buck himself has seen the effects Dally's sexual trauma has on him and his relationship to men. All that being said, his heart still absolutely breaks when Dally acts out some of the things his father has done to him.

There's just something about watching a baby—his baby—acting out physical or sexual abuse.

I think Buck spoils the shit out of Dallas, so he buys him more dolls and even more extravagant houses. Mini furniture, tiny cars, even little horses—just the whole nine yards.

It doesn't take long for Buck to also have a doll that represents him, although he isn't sure he appreciates being the oldest-looking doll in the collection.

Lord, he almost fucking cries (something he hasn't done in YEARS, mind you) when Dallas has his and Buck's dolls ride horses together.

His heart can't take it man.
