So, I’m writing an author’s note, not sure if anyone is even reading this or following this blog. But if you are new here, welcome!
Don’t know what’s going on? Why don’t you pop over here to read this, then come back when you’re done?
Already did that? Well, let’s begin!
I know it’s been a very VERY long time since I’ve updated, but I have not abandoned my story! I am, however, making quite a number of rewrites to it!
So, in case you didn’t know, I have always planned Strangers of Glory to be a three-part series, and if I had enough strength and motivation, expand to a prequel, a spin-off, and a two-part finale. Now, before I get ahead of myself, I obviously want to focus on the real meat of the the trilogy above everything else - hell, it too like 50 million years just to wrap up the Introduction Arc (how embarrassing!).
I took a good hard look at what I’ve gotten done so far; and not to say that I hate my work, I’m very proud of what I’ve at least gotten out. But I began looking forward and what I had planned and began severely trimming down filler and the fat of the story just so I don’t make the habit of droning on and on for several chapters.
Furthermore, what really threw a wrench into the plot was well, the “elephant in the room” or otherwise known as Super Smash Brothers: Ultimate. Now, I’m not here to say that everything is ruined - quite the opposite! Of course I was ecstatic at the idea of a brand new Smash game on the Switch, but good God, I wasn’t expecting it so soon! But I did really worry about cuts and how it was going to affect the writing for SoG.
Fortunately for me, “everyone is here!” Along with the inclusion of more newcomers (bumping up side characters to being a part of the main cast as well), Ultimate is shaping up to be a fantastic addition overall. The only thing that is left is, well...”World of Light.”
Again, much of my story was based off of Super Smash Brothers for the Wii U/3DS, or otherwise SSB4. This included minor things from the single-player campaign, like the Master Core. I also took a few things from Subspace Emissary, but leaned heavily on what was there in SSB4.
Even though the single-player mode in SSB4 left a lot to be desired, I still used elements from that to structure the main plot of SoG, along with lore from certain franchises (i.e. Fire Emblem, Legend of Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles, etc.)
And then...WORLD OF LIGHT HAPPENED OH MY GOODNESS
So, aside from me being so super excited for the newly announced Adventure Mode for Ultimate, there’s also a lot of factors that could really affect the main storyline for SoG.
Without spoiling anything, here is the current plan moving forward with Strangers of Glory:
Continue onto the next arc, Smash Run. While Smash Run was only in SSB4, it’s too late to back out, and it’s only going to be three chapters, four max. Doubtful that I will have this finished before 2019, but I will try!!
Do multiple run-throughs with World of Light - write an analysis and several key notes that will add to or change SoG’s main storyline.
Continue on the one-two more small arcs, maybe a Holiday and Valentine’s Day special if I have time. While these aren’t necessarily filler, they’re a little more lighthearted but do contribute somewhat to the plot.
Finish rewrites and solidify the main plotline with World of Light, Subspace Emissary, and SSB4 in mind.
Jump straight into the Tournament Arc, and continue from there.
I cannot thank any and all supporters that have stuck by me the last few years. I apologize greatly for the lack of updates - I literally have no excuses, and really need to get my butt into gear if I want to FINISH THIS BEFORE SAKURAI DROPS SMASH 6 I SWEAR TO GOD

The last few weeks, I’ve been hard at work trying to get the next update out soon. I’m hoping to get this one out before Halloween of this year.
Here’s a sneak peak of the first part of the upcoming chapter under the cut! Enjoy!
On this chilly October morning, the last thing Zelda was expecting when walking into her Earthanian History class was to be greeted by Headmaster Ganondorf, who stood right on the professor’s podium.
The final morning bell had then chimed once more, ushering in the start of first period for the students at Iwata Academy. Clearly she was not alone in the surprise, as many students behind her were quiet murmurs in confusion, some even worrying that the class as a whole was all in trouble. The Hylian heir took the initiative to keep her head low and keep to herself on her way to her seat. Fortunately for her, he paid no heed to her presence for today.
“Now, now, settle down,” the Headmaster motioned for the class to go to their seats. “Worry not, class will resume with your professor in a few minutes. However, I would like to introduce you all to a big project that we are all very excited about.”
“Dr. Wily, sir,” he beckoned over a shorter, elder man behind him. “You now have the floor.”
The older gentleman had a rather large moustache, graying hairs, and a long stark-white lab coat as he walked over to the podium.
“Thank you, Headmaster,” the class guest rubbed his hands enthusiastically. “For those who are new here, I am Dr. Albert W. Wily, part-time professor here at the Academy, as well as the co-founder of the RRCD – ah, ah, ah! No questions until after the presentation.”
He continued on, waving away the few raised hands that shot up.
“Now, let’s cut to the chase – you may be asking yourselves exactly why a scientist of my pedigree is speaking to large class of youth right now? As much as I would welcome the younger generation to apply themselves to the Department of Sciences, this is not a simple shill to garner interest in my field. Ah – but before I get ahead of myself, let me get to why I am here. I am here to showcase our latest marvel – the project all of us from the RRCD have been hard at work on – known as the Dream Simulator.”
Dr. Wily then stepped away from the podium to as the classroom lights dimmed down and the projector screen was pulled down into view. The projector than hung above the whole class blinked awake with a blank screen before a video presentation began to play.
A compilation of stock footage of various scientists and engineers all working together in various lab-like settings were weaved alongside a cheesy instrumental and dated transitions, reminding Zelda of something she has seen on an educational VHS back in Junior Academy. It was clear that the video was edited in a fashion that looked as if it was recorded from decades ago.
“Our leading scientists and researchers are always making new discoveries every day – working and innovating towards a better and brighter future for everyone on Earthania,” the narrator droned on, “Here in the Nintendo-Land’s Robotics Research and Cybernetics Division or otherwise known as RRCD, we are proud to announce our latest project that goes beyond the scope of virtual reality, now known as the ‘Dream Simulator’.”
The video then transitioned to an animation of a sleek metallic-like helmet resembling that of modern virtual reality headset, with a larger backside with a few cords stemming at the base of the helmet and a tinted shield over the front.
“The Dream Simulator, formerly known as Prototype SR-14, allows its users to embark on worlds that go above their own wildest dreams. For the first time ever, our engineers have used cutting edge technology to integrate the human mind to the unlimited virtual world, rendering the most realistic and immersive experience thus far.”
“How fascinating…” Zelda overheard Miriel remark in the seat in front of her with Sumia and Stahl next to her agreeing as well. Even with the rather outdated, almost goofy visuals, Zelda had to admit that the Dream Simulator was incredible technology to behold and soon grew curious of how it would feel to try on the Dream Simulator.
The presentation continued, going from the logistics of the tech itself, to a step-by-step walkthrough of how the Dream Simulator works. What caught Zelda’s attention was that test subjects underwent what was known as “twilight sedation” prior to strapping on the Dream Simulator headset, where the body was not quite unconscious, but was in a relaxed and sleep-like state. This type of anesthesia allowed the subject to remain somewhat responsive and reduce any physical pain, but the main side effect was the inability to create new memories. This resulted with all test subjects forgetting their most of their virtual experience, similar to “waking from a fading dream.”
The video soon came to a close, the narrator announcing that the endless possibilities of the Dream Simulator, and how the RRCD hopes to incorporate this technology in various areas, from medical breakthroughs in hypnosis and therapy, to aiding armed forces in combat training. Once the credits began rolling, the projector was quickly turned off and the lights in flickered back to life. Many of the students began chatting excitedly amongst themselves, all very engrossed with the Dream Simulator machine. Some fantasized of the idea of transporting to a vacation getaway without leaving the house, others were eager of escaping into a fantasy-like video game worlds with all their friends.
Zelda on the other hand, remained leery of the whole thing as she cautiously looked upon Ganondorf once Dr. Wily took to the podium again.

Here’s a sneak peak in the upcoming chapter, coming very soon!
One of Link’s favorite spots was the grassy clearing right outside the fenced athletic field.
The divot underneath the oak tree roots made for a perfect napping spot – which was, of course, Link’s favorite hobby. After all, the calming breeze and the last shadow of the warm autumn sun were all reminiscent of his serene home village back from the Kokiri Forest.
During the week, he was guaranteed to be found dozing beneath the shade of the trees right after his last mid-afternoon classes. At some point, whether it would be ten minutes to an hour, Pit would drag his sleepy body to archery practice once the angel noted his friend’s absence (at times, laughably, by the hood of his sweatshirt). And today, the day being the day of the Fils-Aime – Iwata Joint Archery competition, was no different.
However, his wake-up call wasn’t by his usual angelic friend.
Link blinked his eyes open and quickly sat up once noting the unfamiliar footsteps making their way towards him. He gave a sleepy yawn and grin when it appeared that Pit’s childhood best friend, Tena stood before him.
“Sorry to disturb, Link,” the young woman softly smiled. “But it looks like you’ll be up soon and Pit asked if I could wake you.”
With a nod, Link got up and stretched before slinging his bag on his shoulder and grabbing his bow and quiver. He seemed fairly calm, even under the pressure by Pit to win this year's meet-up. Unlike Pit, who knew he was going up against vice-captain Takumi from the Academy, Link wasn't entirely informed who he was against as it was still up in the air earlier this week per their coach.
He made his way back into the track field, passing the junior varsity members lined up on target practice. He weaved through the small groups of students and pulled the hood of his green sweatshirt over his head. Many from Fils-Aime have recognized him for his incredible skill in marksmanship, but to him, he still felt the need to keep to himself and not draw further attention.
Turning over towards the varsity team, Link felt a sense of pride when he spotted Pit doing some warm-up stretches on the sideline while his Hoshido opponent readied his bow. He noted that Pit has been wary with his shoulder from his last mission, which has long past healed. He took a side-long glance towards the bleachers and noticed Tena back in her seat among the crowd, crossing her arms with a curious smirk and genuine interest. Link wondered whether the green-haired woman was debating whether to side with her best friend or the beloved school she graduated from.
After observing his friend for a bit, he went back towards the white outdoor tent nearby. Once he tucked himself inside behind the flapping entryway, he was waved down by a well-dressed archer.
"Ah! Just the man I was looking for," Virion greeted Link enthusiastically before beckoning him to follow, “Link, was it? Come – it seems you’ll be up against our beautiful Captain herself.”
‘Captain…? Wait, would that mean…?’
They stopped on the other side of the tent, to which even Link couldn’t mask his surprise to see the heir of the Hylian Kingdom.
He knew full well that Iwata Academy’s student body was of prestigious and royal students all over the globe. However, he couldn’t help shake off the sense of disbelief being this close to meeting the literal princess of his home kingdom of Hyrule.
“Thank you, Virion,” Zelda equipped her bow before dismissing him. “That will be all.”
The archer bowed his head and left, leaving the two Hylians alone. Link was quick to bow deeply being in the presence of royalty.
“Zelda, by the way.”
He looked up to see her moving forward to offer her hand and smile. “And you are….Link of Fils-Aime School, correct?”
Thankful that his hood hid his eyes, he took a good look at his opponent while head bowed. Even in her school’s yellow track jacket and her hair tied up, Zelda simply radiated elegance and grace from her being. And with him donning on ripped jeans and his ragged hoodie, he felt a sinking need to look away. Her brow furrowed in concern, before dropping her hand to her side and sighing to herself.
“Hm. Suit yourself.”
The tent flapped open again to Link’s relief, this time with Zelda’s faithful royal guard, Impa.
“Your highness,” she said with a slight bow, “It’s time.”
All three enter the grassy clearing and towards where the two rival teams set camp. Past the crowd of archers, Zelda and Link stopped at the line on the grass marked 10m, two circular targets in view ahead. She took a long, deep breath, gripping to her bow. She took a mental note of the autumn wind, realizing even a slightest breeze could drastically affect each shot. Off to the side, paralleled to the targets was a junior referee, a petite, light-skinned bunny with her blue Chao companion. She was dressed in a black and white stripe shirt to match with her senior refs, her floppy ears pulled back ponytail-style.
“On your mark…” Cream announced from behind the two.
“Get set…”
Zelda’s fingers impatiently tapped onto the narrow wood.
The whistle cuts through air like a knife, and on cue Link and Zelda reach for their quiver. Just as she steadied the shaft of her arrow to the notch of the wooden handle, Link’s arrow had already been released from his bow. Not to let her guard done for another second, she pulled on the taut bow string back and let go.
Both arrows landed on their target in a satisfying ‘thunk’, followed by mild applause from the watching audience behind them. Unsurprisingly, both arrows hit dead center on the black circle of their target. Cream jogged from the sidelines and towards the targets with a measuring tool in hand. After a minute of measuring from the center spot of both targets, their referee raises his arm and points at Zelda as the decisive winner of the round.
Zelda let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding in, and then beamed in her victory. She tossed a look over to her silent opponent out of curiosity, but was taken aback by his lack of any reaction. Link, whose face was just as hidden underneath his hood at their initial meeting, had quietly acknowledged his loss and headed to the 20-meter mark after gathering his things.
On their way to the second round of shooting targets, Zelda took this time to observe Link. As someone who boasted the title as co-captain of the Fils-Aime Archery team on his first year alone, Link’s personality has been somewhat difficult to read. Was it all pure confidence? An act of arrogance?
Or well-hidden fear?
Whatever it was, it was hard for Zelda to make heads or tails about it. There was something peculiar about this hooded boy, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
‘Or maybe he just happens to be a very quiet person…’
Zelda squeezed shut her eyes before reigning back in her focus.
‘No more nonsense. I really am over thinking this.’

I can 1000% guarantee that someone has flailed and gushed and swooned over at least one of your fics because it spoke to something in them.
You have connected with more people than you know and you should be completely proud of yourselves.
Never compare yourself to others because everyone builds these connections in their own amazing way and fandom would be far less interesting without you in it
