Haven't posted in a while. Gamedev takes so much longer than you think - I finished this song + boss fight back in 2023, and the game still isn't out yet. I don't have any qualms with sharing it early 🕷️ Life keeps getting in the way, but, it's a matter of when, not if. Brief update!

The enemies for area 2 are just under 50% complete. Yesterday, I started working on the overworld aspects and introducing some new fun mechanics for area 2 I think you’ll really enjoy. I’ve been in contact with Silkanide and some other artists on the pixel art for the future areas and I’m really excited to see what they come up with!

Speaking of, I recently uploaded the final update to the demo. If you haven’t played it yet, now is the perfect time!

Hey! I think it’s super cool that you’re making your own indie game. Did you make the soundtrack yourself? If so, what sound packs/software did you use? Thanks!

I did! I use Ableton Live Standard in combination with free plugins, synths, and VSTs I find online. Here’s a few that I find myself coming back to frequently:

SGM - Good general MIDI, with some really good drums/percussion

Magical 8bit Plug 2 - Retro sounding square/triangle synth

Kairatune - Great synth with a TON of options

DSK Dynamic Guitars & DSK Saxophones - With a little EQ these are some great samples

Kontakt Factory Selection - has some nice dirty/gritty synths I like (I couldn’t find a link to it but if you have the free Kontakt player you should be able to get it there)

TDR Kotelnikov - Amazing compressor

Izotope Vinyl, Magic Switch, and Grind Machine Free - some cool effects plugins I use
