Nightshade Network

My past friend, @lbds137, has recently come under fire for speaking out on her ban from Nightshade Network, or NN; it is a witchcraft Discord server, and not one of small population.

While I by-and-large enjoyed my time there, I feel the need to stand by her and speak on my experiences, as well-because I, also, was banned.

I had been present for some time there, and I’ll admit, I raised controversy with my brash and blunt opinions; I did not do so on purpose, and I did not do so with any intent to hurt anyone (and nor did I). However, at one point, the owner and leader of NN (whose name shall be unmentioned for reasons of professionalism) needed to take a break of some days, the amount indeterminate. Their life was getting in the way and stressing them, and that’s fair; it happens to everyone.

My sticking point was their decision to, while they were gone, shut down the server. Just close it, for however long they decided to be gone. I add that the staff team was always present, kept up with the rules and their breakages (however much or little I agree with them, and the style of moderation present), and were a fairly large team. They were fully prepared to be able to handle the server while the owner was away.

Instead, the owner, for whatever reason (though I assume to retain final say and control) decided to just shut it all down for a time.

I don’t know if this happened, because I was banned shortly after.

I brought up the points above in their #general-that there were mods, the community would be disenfranchised, that it was unfair to deprive their server members their community, etc.-and, shortly after, was ridiculed and attacked by the owner, the mod team, and various community members because my points made the owner feel bad.

I shut up as requested, though was attacked and berated repeatedly even after I stopped bringing up my points, and then summarily banned a short time later.

TL;DR: The owner of NN wanted to close the server for however long they took a break for, despite a competent mod team in place, I rose a point about why this was bad, got harassed and banned.

NN has pretty wild ideas about "cultural appropriation"

I really tried to like NN despite the onerous mile-long trigger list, but then someone got butthurt about my Discord nickname (Linah bat Lilit) because I am not Jewish. That degenerated into me being dog piled in their “ethics in magic” channel for refusing to stop working with Lilith (who is allegedly closed to non-Jews, a claim that I find ridiculous given that Lilith predates Judaism and also appears in Christianity, albeit with less backstory), and then after a heated and unsolicited conversation in DMs with Willo I was abruptly banned from the server without any notification. I’ve gotten multiple energy and divination readings from quite a few people who have confirmed that Lilith is in fact interested in me, so who is NN to say that I can’t work with Her? Are they really so arrogant as to claim that they have authority to intrude into my personal practice and override the wishes of the Goddess I worship? Apparently they are, lol.

This is a really good point and something we all should be mindful of (myself included.) Like, personally I’m against love spells because of my own experiences and sometimes talk about how they can be harmful in some situations. However, just because my own moral system is anti-love spell doesn’t mean that people who cast love spells are automatically evil and wrong. There are likely times where love spells are totally justified and understandable from someone’s perspective. And I firmly believe that everyone should be able to practice their craft as they please, whether that includes love spells, binding, curses, etc.

There should definitely be space for people who feel a certain way about some kinds of spells, but at the same time, those people need to remember to speak only from their own perspective instead of trying to get everyone else to confirm to their own beliefs. Everyone’s moral system is different, and policing other people’s crafts. We all just need to stay in our lanes more lol.

So many times I see someone ask for help on something and then they get lectured about how what they want isn’t right for them. Fuck off, you have no idea what’s right for that person. If they want to know how they can get back into contact with their ex, you have no fucking reason to tell them that they shouldn’t, that they can’t, that it’s not the right choice, etc. It’s ridiculous that people still do this and think it’s “kindness”. No, what you put out does not necessarily return to you via some cosmic Rule of Three or Karma or Rebalancing or anything.

What you put out can affect the overall balance of things, however.

So, yes, I am against humans going around cursing things like their morality objectively makes it fine for them to, because frankly, I don’t want messed with the balance of the existence in which I reside.

Help?

I did something magic and I’m unsure what it is.

I was watching a YouTube video on Star Wars, and they were talking about the Light Side and Dark Side, and suddenly I drew conclusions about much I’d been thinking about; a rush of energy tingled my back, and from it, I drew out a kind of energy I’m completely unsure of.

I imagine it pitch black, but dotted with or ringed in deep light, like a solar eclipse, melding like paint or burning like a flame. I put some into a raw clear quartz crystal, and the tested reactions by noted sensitive individuals were:

Pain in the arm holding the crystal; heaviness, lightness, and deepness, all at once; buzzing, like electricity; and nothing abnormal.

(These reactions are listed by most to least sensitive individuals.)

Of note, the energy itself does tense and tingle my body, and I’ve learned to draw it from my back, though I’m not sure if these reactions are purely psychological or not. When channeling it, focusing on a clarity of empty emotion and envisioning, feeling it as a wave of something-not-there feels to solidify and enhance it.

What’s up this is off brand for me, but fun fact I have a disorder mixed in with all my fun neuro stuff that means I lack empathy, I have trouble feeling it somtimes🙃 I generally don’t consider myself a bad person and I’ve learned to mimic morals the same way other people have. I always hide this side of me because I know someone’s bound to bring up the whole omg you’re a phycopath thing, I’m not a phycopath, I don’t harm small animals or murder people in my free time, but I DO have sociopathic tendencies such as I have trouble understanding emotion like crying at a funeral, or consolidating someone when they’ve lost a job so on🤷🏽‍♀️ there’s basil’s daily lesson for today I guess. I’m sure no one really cares but shouting into the void of tumblr is therapeutic.
