SIYO! š¶ i just wanted to say i really really love ur beadwork!!!!!! i also make beadwork but i havent started posting it yet... i was curious what size beads you use, and where u get ur beading supplies ? also, do u draw ur designs out on felt/material u bead onto first, or do u print an image of the design and sew on top of that? ive seen both ways but personally i do not understand the printing method...
Hayyy!! My bad for the delayed response. I typed up a whole thing yesterday and tumblr trashed it so I gave up and now Iām back lollll.
Anywho, wanted to start this off by saying THANK YOU!!! I appreciate you so so much!! I always see you in my notifs and I am so thankful š„¹š.
So letās get into this!! Obviously you know that every beader is different. Personally, I LOVE using size 12 needles with size 11 seed beads. Iāve tried size 15 needles and 15 seed beads and itās just not for me. Those sizes are amazing for smaller and finer projects, but the needles break WAY too easily. Iām sure there is a method but I am not willing to find out at this time.
As for the design methods⦠So, typically if Iām just doing a one-and-done design that I can very easily draw on a piece of paper, I will do that. But if I know Iām going to need to have exact details, or maybe I need to print multiple things (such as for repeat designs or Iām making earrings), I will draw my design down in procreate to get exact line art of whatever design it is. I also use my Procreate to draw my own designs from scratch! Such as my recent Zooble keychain, or my strawberry studs Iāve posted here as well.
What happens is I draw my design, copy and paste it multiple times across my canvas in the size I want, and then I usually move it over to Canva to get exact default paper sizing. From there, you might have to mess with the sizing to get the size you want. This is also because some designs only work if you do them big due to the smaller details. The more you do it, the mid youāll get it.
After your design is printed or drawn down on paper, I cut out my design (JUST OUTSIDE OF MY DESIGN!). Just enough to be able to tack it down with my needle and thread straight onto my pellon (whatever you bead on). From there, you are basically playing āfollow the lineā and doing line art with your beads.
This process takes time, like seriously. If youāre not good at it immediately, donāt be surprised. It takes so much practice for straight lines and things, so just be prepared! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! (Obviously if you get frustrated, please take a break. I was taught that negative emotions can leave an imprint on your beadwork and you can pass it onto others)
I try to steer away beading anything that isnāt like public domain (like fanart that isnāt mine), and do my best to make things my own when I can.
(Iām gonna reblog this with more info and examples hopefully)
